Summer Wells: Amber alert issued for Tennessee girl who's been missing for 3 years as prayers pour in on her 8th birthday

TENNESSEE, UNITED STATES: Nearly three years ago, Summer Wells, a 5-year-old girl, vanished from her rural East Tennessee home. This led to an extensive search that is still going on, according to the authorities.

The girl turned eight on Sunday, February 4, 2024, according to a social media post shared by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Summer Wells has been missing since 2021

The organization stated by posting on platform X (previously known as Twitter), "NEVER FORGOTTEN: Today is Summer Wells’ 8th birthday. She’s been missing since June 15, 2021."

It further stated, "Although we still don’t have the answers we’ve been seeking, agents continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Call 1-800-TBI-FIND w/ credible information."

According to CrimeOnline, on June 15, 2021, at 6.30 pm, Wells' parents, Don Wells and Candus Bly, called 911 because they were unable to locate the girl in the vicinity of her Hawkins County home.

Don Wells has insisted since the beginning that Summer was kidnapped, despite claims from authorities that they lack proof of that assertion. Nevertheless, an Amber Alert was issued, and it is still in effect.

At Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Kingsport earlier this week, locals gathered in prayer for not just Summer but also for other local missing women and children, according to WJHL.

Internet prays for 8-year-old

After the officials shared news with the public on the digital platform, Internet started showering prayers and birthday wishes for Summer Wells. One wrote in the comments section, "Praying for summer found soon updates on summer case justice for summer."

Another user expressed heartbreak over the tragic situation involving a child and their family, saying, "I hope with all my heart that they will have answers, the family, I will never be able to understand how we can do this to a child and his family, it breaks my heart A Happy Birthday She should have been with her family."

The third commentator suggested not giving up on finding justice for Wells, "Happy birthday Summer Please don’t ever give up on finding justice for this precious girl."
