WASHINGTON, DC: A viral 'Swifties for Trump' trend is gaining momentum on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), indicating that some fans of pop icon Taylor Swift are campaigning for former president Donald Trump, reported Times Now.

A viral video has exploded across cyberspace, amassing 1.2 million views so far, claiming the fans of the 'Bad Blood' singer were rallying for the GOP presidential nominee.

In the video, the speaker claimed that world peace prevailed during Trump's administration rather than war. The X user also referenced Taylor Swift’s recent cancellation of her Eras Tour concert in Vienna following suspected terror attacks, suggesting that if Trump had been in office, the show’s cancellation might have been avoided.

Taylor Swift remains silent on 2024 endorsement despite 'Swifties for Trump' trend on X

Taylor Swift, currently on the international leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour, has yet to announce her support for the 2024 presidential race. The possibility of endorsement to Trump, despite the viral trend, is unlikely due of her Democratic history.

In 2020, Swift endorsed President Joe Biden, two years after she ended her neutral stance on politics. Swift first declared her support for Democrats in the 2018 midterm election by backing the opponent of Republican Sen Marsha Blackburn, who held a conservative stance on women's rights, including abortion.

Before Trump experienced his first political setback in the 2020 presidential election, Taylor Swift criticized his “ineffective leadership” on social media, stating, “He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president.”

Similarly, Trump has also expressed a less-than-favorable opinion of Swift.

An excerpt from the book 'Apprentice in Wonderland' by Ramin Setoodeh revealed the former president called the 'Lover' singer “unusually beautiful" but added she was a “liberal” who “probably doesn’t like Trump."

Irrespective of Swift's silence on her endorsement, her fans launched the coalition "Swifties For Kamala" in July, which has nearly 59K followers on X, to organize and help campaign for Trump's Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

'Swifties for Trump' sparks a meme fest as netizens express shock

Netizens flooded cyberspace with memes and GIFs, stunned by the unlikely trend of Taylor Swift's fans rallying behind Donald Trump. Some refused to believe the viral trend, suggesting that such support was implausible.

"Opening twitter to see swifties for trump trending," a user wrote, sharing a meme featuring Anne Hathaway.

"'Swifties for Trump' Taylor swift would hate you then," another user captioned a GIF.

"OPENED TWITTER AND SAW SWIFTIES FOR TRUMP TRENDING," added a third user.

One hilarious meme had the caption, "Taylor when she finds out someone’s trying to push Swifties for Trump."
