The agency's spokesperson humorously responded to this conspiracy theory by saying, "We are going to shake it off."

Host Jesse Watters shared the crazy idea with the viewers of Fox News during their primetime slot, causing it to become widely known.

He made an inaccurate claim that several years ago the "Pentagon psyop unit pitched NATO on turning Taylor Swift into an asset for combating misinformation online".

On Tuesday's episode of 'Jesse Watters Primetime', the conservative host put forth the theory that the pop sensation, who recently collaborated with the nonpartisan group Vote.org to boost voter registration, might be "a front for a covert political agenda."

He posed a question to his audience: "Have you ever wondered why or how she blew up like this?"

Subsequently, Watters aired a snippet from a 2019 NATO-sponsored conference where a speaker cited Swift as a case of an influential figure.

Following the airing of the clip, Sabrina Singh, a spokesperson for the Pentagon, light-heartedly dismissed Watters’ peculiar assertions.

Speaking to Politico, the rep said, "As for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off", cleverly alluding to Swift's popular 2014 song.

Andrea Hailey, the CEO of Vote.org, also responded to Watters' suggestion that Swift's voter registration initiatives are government-backed.

In a post on X, she stated, "Our partnership with @taylorswift13 is helping all Americans make their voices heard at the ballot box. Not a psy-op or a Pentagon asset. Just the biggest nonpartisan platform in America helping young people register & cast their vote."
