WASHINGTON DC: On Tuesday, Sydney Sweeney took to Instagram to share a screengrab from an apparent video call with her brother, Trent, revealing he has been deployed. Trent, who reportedly serves in the US Air Force, appeared to be wearing a military uniform in the photo.

In her post, Sweeney also remembered all the 'boys and girls' deployed overseas and thanked them for their service to the nation.

Currently, thousands of American troops are deployed overseas to serve the US during the war with Iran. It is not clear whether Sweeney's brother was deployed in connection to the Iran conflict.

In the post shared by the ‘Euphoria’ star, her brother, Trent, is seen smiling at her during a video call. “Receiving calls from my bro always make me happy when he’s deployed,” she captioned the photo, revealing a heartfelt moment between the siblings.

Sweeney further expressed her gratitude to troops deployed overseas for their service. “Thinking of all our boys and girls overseas and sending my love! Thank you for your service,” she added.

Trent has been serving as an Air Force munitions squadron since about 2020, and was promoted to a staff sergeant in August 2025, as per his Instagram update.

Sydney Sweeney is registered as a Republican

The 28-year-old actress reportedly registered herself as a Republican in June 2024, public voter records revealed last year. While the actress has often mentioned that she does not want to be political and only wishes to focus on her artistry, she is constantly pulled into political conversations.

Following the revelation of Sweeney's status as a registered Republican, President Donald Trump showed appreciation for her American Eagle advertisement, calling it "fantastic" and the "hottest ad out there."

However, the American Eagle ad campaign also earned her severe backlash from the public last summer. Many even accused her of advocating a "white supremacist" agenda and "Nazi propaganda" for praising attributes like blond hair and blue eyes by playing with words like "genes" for "jeans."

In an interview with Cosmopolitan published in January, the actress also responded to social media users nicknaming her "MAGA Barbie." "I’ve never been here to talk about politics," she said. "I’ve always been here to make art, so this is just not a conversation I want to be at the forefront of."

Although Sweeney's American Eagle Jeans ad campaign was marred with controversy, her brother made sure to poke fun at the situation. "It’s them good jeans," Trent wrote on Instagram stories in reference to his sister's ad campaign, while sharing the certification of his promotion as a staff sergeant in August 2025.

US Troops being deployed in the Middle East

As many as 3,000 US troops are being deployed to the Middle East, but it is unclear whether they will engage in combat. Trump refused to rule out the possibility of American boots (troops) on Iranian ground in the early weeks of the war with Iran.

The war began on February 28, 2026, after the US and Israel launched joint strikes on Iran, which also led to the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

As the war entered its fourth week, Tehran rejected the 15-point peace plan sent by Washington only hours after Trump announced that Iran had agreed to abandon its aspiration to become a nuclear power.
