Taylor Lautner says 'one of the greater things' in his life was rekindling friendship with Taylor Swift

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Lautner opens up about his longstanding friendship with his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift as they continue to maintain their friendship for 14 years since their split.

The 'Twilight' star now shares insights into the secrets behind their lasting bond.

Taylor Lautner says he and Taylor Swift 'stayed friendly' since the end of their relationship

During the December 13 podcast episode of 'Call Her Daddy', Lautner told Alex Cooper, "Obviously every relationship is different."

"I think when you respect somebody for who they are in their soul, it allows you to move on, forgive, and continue that love in a different way," he said.

"And thankfully we had that," he said of the 'Karma' singer, adding "So after things ended between us—we were so young, I was 18 she was 20, 21—we stayed friendly, we would see each other now and then."

Taylor Lautner describes Taylor Swift as a 'wonderful human'

Lautner shared that they were not in contact for a while yet reconciled this year as he starred in Swift's music video 'I Can See You'.

"I have always had the deepest respect for who she is as a person, before anything else," Lautner stated.

"I would say one of the greater things to happen in my life over the last year is the rekindling of our friendship, because she just is a wonderful human," he further said, adding "She's pretty great to have in your life."

When asked about details of their breakup in 2009, the 'Tracers' actor admitted the Grammy winner was one who called it quits. "Yes, absolutely. I'm thinking back on exactly what happened but no, yeah. She did," he said with a laugh.

Taylor Lautner's wife shares her perspective on his friendship with Taylor Swift

Speaking about how she views the unique friendship between her husband and Swift, Taylor Dome credits the singer for making it easy for her to not be awkward to be around.

"It's honestly all her, she just makes it so easy," Dome said of working and hanging with the 'Back to December' singer.

"Before we'd even gone to film the music video, the first text she sent him when she was pitching the idea, she included me in it," she added.

"And she is so inclusive of me in everything, which is so kind of her. But she's just kind, and she's very thoughtful. She makes it very easy," Dome said on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, according to E! News.
