Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce bent on proving 'their love is real deal' amid staged romance rumors
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have found themselves under fire, with rumors swirling that their relationship is nothing more than a calculated publicity stunt.
The couple, however, appears prepared to counter the skepticism. Insiders suggest they have developed a strategy to demonstrate that their love is the "real deal."
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift push back on 'staged romance' rumors
When a so-called "showmance document" appeared online, indicating a planned breakup between the two, Travis Kelce’s team quickly dismissed it, as per Radar Online.
A spokesperson for the NFL star slammed the rumors as “entirely false and fabricated.”
In a statement to E! News on September 5, Kelce’s representatives from Full Scope Public Relations strongly refuted the authenticity of the documents circulating online, titled “Comprehensive Media Plan for Travis Kelce’s Public Relations Following Breakup with Taylor Swift” and bearing the agency's logo, according to Billboard.
“These documents are entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued, or authorized by this agency,” the spokesperson stated. “We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents.”
However, the rumors of a staged romance reportedly hit a sensitive spot, with sources stating that the couple is now committed to dispelling any doubts.
An insider disclosed that Kelce’s PR team devised a relationship contract, with Swift agreeing to step back from "micromanaging" and put an end to the rumors about their romance being staged.
"She's making a conscious effort to let her hair down," said the source.
"When they first got together, she was focused on the timing of everything—like when they’d have their first public date, their first public kiss, etc. That's her style, she micromanages her image. But now she's going to take the handcuffs off and do what comes naturally," they added.
Taylor Swift breaks NFL stereotypes, embraces genuine style and laid-back dates with Travis Kelce
Taylor Swift's return to Arrowhead Stadium on September 5 to support Kelce at the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener revealed a different side of the pop star.
Ditching the usual head-to-toe team gear, she rocked thigh-high, dark red boots with denim shorts and a matching corset—an outfit choice that didn’t go unnoticed.
"In the past, she felt like she had to dress like the perfect NFL girlfriend, and to her that meant being covered in team merch," the insider explained. "This time, she wore what she felt sexy and more authentic in."
After the game, the couple joined Kelce’s teammates at Prime Social for an after-party, where Swift reportedly embraced a more relaxed, carefree vibe, truly "letting her hair down."
The following night, they kept it low-key with a visit to a pizza spot in Brooklyn. "They were sitting in the main section like everyone else, and that was by design," the source said. "For so long, they hid out at home because Swift was afraid to make a public misstep and get torn to shreds."
The couple is now focused on letting go of their caution. "She’s determined to stop overthinking. Travis just wanted pizza and to hang out with regular people, like he always used to," the source shared.
Their laid-back vibe carried on two days later at the US Open on September 8, where they were seen sharing passionate kisses in the VIP box.
This public display of affection stirred more online buzz, with many speculating if their PDA was another effort to prove their relationship is genuine.
However, according to the insider, Swift and Kelce are unbothered by the critics.
"Skeptics are labeling their PDA as cringey and fake, but they don’t care. They’re now doing things purely for their own enjoyment, rather than following a plan," the source said.
