Taylor Swift gets called 'narcissist' as her motorcade blocks Toronto highway on way to Eras Tour concert

TORONTO, CANADA: Taylor Swift got a royal treatment in Toronto, Canada, as a big police escort blocked a freeway in the city.

The ‘Karma’ singer is in the neighboring country for the culmination of her historic global Eras Tour and in the viral video, the star can be seen taken to her next show through an empty highway.

Officials justify the special protection offered to Taylor Swift

As per TMZ, locals expressed their frustration over unnecessary holdup at the busy route.

Toronto Police Department has defended the move, saying that the police escort is part of the overall security in the city, and since Swift has a massive and active following, the extra protection is necessary for public safety at large. 

It is also suggested that not the entire highway was shut down, but it was “rolling closures,” which meant closing down the highway by sections as the motorcade passed through.

Netizens call out Taylor Swift's motorcade blocking busy Toronto highway

The Internet let out their frustration on Taylor Swift and local authorities for causing trouble for local commuters on the highway.

One person said on X (formerly Twitter), "This should never be done for a private citizen. Or it should be done for everyone."

"What a narcissist," another slammed. "Well we have Trudeau with the mentality of a teenaged girl ruling the country and a dimwit as mayor of Toronto. I expected nothing less," said someone else.

"Arrogant metropolitan elite at it again, prioritizing celebrity worship over people's livelihoods," another joined. 

One person claimed, "For context, this is the most congested road in Canada (which is down to 2 lanes) and they blocked it off for her. Very Orwellian."

"She could have taken a helicopter. The politicans prefer to humiliate the citizens of Toronto. Remind them how small and unimportant their lives are," a user slammed.

"Too bad she couldn't take a short flight across town in her private jet like Taylor does in LA," one felt.

"Oh brother man. Talk about marketing hype. You couldn’t pay me to go a concert. Toronto residents should speak up," one expressed.
