Billie Eilish clarifies comments on album packaging, denies targeting Taylor Swift
Billie Eilish has responded to speculation that her recent remarks criticizing the excessiveness of releasing multiple physical formats of albums were directed at Taylor Swift. In an interview with Billboard, Eilish expressed concerns about the sustainability of releasing numerous packaging variants to boost album sales, mentioning "some of the biggest artists in the world" are offering multiple vinyl packages.
However, Eilish clarified on her Instagram stories that her comments were not aimed at any specific artist and included herself among those guilty of such practices. She emphasized that the issue is an industry-wide concern and urged people to focus on addressing systemic issues contributing to climate change. “It would be so awesome if people would stop putting words into my mouth and actually read what I said in that Billboard article,” she wrote on her Instagram stories over the weekend. “I wasn’t singling anyone out, these are industry-wide systemic issues and when it comes to variants, so many artists release them, including ME! Which I clearly state in the article."
