Taylor Swift opens up about feeling 'lonely' while writing 'Folklore' with ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA: Taylor Swift has opened up about her experience writing 'Folklore' with her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, revealing feelings of loneliness during the process. This revelation sparked concern among her devoted fan base, known as the 'Swifties,' who took to comforting her online.
During her recent concert in Melbourne, Australia, Swift debuted a track from her acclaimed album 'Midnights.' Taylor Swift reveals she was 'lonely' and drinking while writing 'Folklore' with Joe Alwyn
According to the Daily Mail, during a stop on her Eras Tour in Melbourne, the 'Lover' singer opened up about feeling 'lonely' while writing songs for her 'Folklore' album during quarantine with her former partner of six years, Alwyn.
The revelation came as she was preparing to perform 'Betty' from the 2020 album, shortly after singing the breakup song 'You're Losing Me' for the first time.
In a now-viral clip shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the pop icon could be seen on stage with a microphone and guitar, expressing her sentiments about the songwriting process for 'Folklore' in a poetic manner.
As per the Daily Mail, Swift conveyed, "I was imagining that, instead of being a lonely millennial woman covered in cat hair drinking my weight in white wine, I was a ghostly Victorian lady wandering through the woods with a candle in a candlestick holder. And I wrote only on parchment with a feathered quill. And that was in my mind, what I thought I looked like...while writing Folklore. So that's all that matters, the delusion."

As she concluded her confession, Swift began to hum some notes from the song while playing with her guitar strings.
'Folklore' was released in July 2020 and later won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2021. Alwyn, who was one of the producers on the album, notably co-wrote the tracks 'Betty' and 'Exile' under the pseudonym William Bowery, according to the Daily Mail.
Last year in April, it was confirmed that Swift and Alwyn had officially ended their six-year relationship. Since then, the songstress has been experiencing a blossoming romance with Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
