Taylor Swift skips second Kansas City Chiefs game in a row amid accusations of 'distracting' Travis Kelce
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Taylor Swift appears to have skipped the second Kansas City Chiefs game in a row when she didn’t turn up to cheer for Travis Kelce at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on September 29.
After the 34-year-old singer missed watching the Chiefs defeat the Atlanta Falcons on September 22, the fans were hopeful that Swift would make an in-person appearance at the Chiefs’ fourth game of this season when they took on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, September 29.
However, to the chagrin of many, the ‘Cruel Summer’ singer did not appear to cheer for her beau’s team amid mounting criticisms that she distracted the Chiefs tight end and impeded his game.
Why did Taylor Swift skip the Chiefs’ game last week?
While it is not yet known why the global superstar skipped cheering for Travis Kelce in person during the Chargers game, she was unable to see them defeat the Atlanta Falcons because of a “scheduled time” out with friends, per Glamour.
Previously, a source told The US Sun, "Going to the game in Atlanta wasn’t possible because she had scheduled time with some friends, like Gigi Hadid, whom she spent time with on the weekend, and other friends that she hasn’t seen in a while.”
The insider continued, “She wanted to hang out with them before returning to the tour soon. But she plans to return to the next game to support Travis.”
After the back-to-back away games, the Chiefs will return to their base at Arrowhead Stadium to take on the New Orleans Saints on October 7. Fans will be hoping for Swift to attend the game before she kicks off the last leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour in Miami on October 18.
Travis Kelce addresses criticism of Taylor Swift ‘distracting’ him
While the Chiefs have registered four back-to-back wins early in the season (including the 17-10 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers), Travis Kelce was not beyond criticism.
The 34-year-old tight end faced immense criticism for his performance in the field. Automatically, Swift was blamed for his poor performance.
Before Sunday’s game, Kelce logged just eight receptions for 69 yards and no touchdowns, per Marca.
However, Kelce’s performance at the recent game was praiseworthy with him logging in seven receptions for 89 yards, per AP.
Last week, Kelce addressed his slow start in the season and dismissed the rumors of distraction.
He said during the press conference, "I think this year stats may say something different, but at the same time you'll see the same person inside this building, and that's all I really care about,'' before adding, "I'm my own worst critic. Everything outside of this building is just noise.

"I'm fortunate. I've had the success in the past and I realized that the ball can't always go to one person. It can't always get in my hands, but at the same time, I got all the trust in [Patrick Mahomes] to make the right decision, and he's been making great decisions,” said Kelce.
He continued in the press conference last week, "We might not be putting up as [many] points as we want to, but at the same time we're 3-0 and we're doing something right."
Even a few days ago, Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid defended his trusted soldier during a press conference on September 25.
Addressing the criticisms of distractions, coach Reid told the press, "I know people are saying that he's old or that he has distractions, but defenses don't think that.”
"Trav is fine. He just keeps being Trav. He works his tail off. He hasn't lost a step. He's not distracted,” concluded the veteran coach, per Fox News.
