WASHINGTON, DC: Barack Obama has released his list of favorite music of 2024, which naturally created an upheaval on the internet.

The 44th president has been sharing annual lists of his favorite books, movies, and songs since 2015.

However, this year things have taken a tense turn, as netizens are divided over his decision to leave out Taylor Swift from his list of favorite songs despite her being a vocal Democrat supporter.

Barack Obama's favorite music list has no mention of Taylor Swift

While Barack Obama's 25-track selection saw entries like Billie Eilish’s ‘Lunch’, Beyonce’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, and Kendrick Lamar's 'Squabble Up', Taylor Swift was conspicuously missing.

The 'Cruel Summer' singer's absence from the list didn't sit well with her fans as ahead of this year's presidential election she had penned a lengthy note on her Instagram endorsing the Democrat candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris.

She wrote, "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I t hink she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos."

Obama's list also included songs from artists like Hozier, Shaboozey, and Asake and Travis Scott, among others.

This year Swift released her eleventh studio album, 'The Tortured Poets Department', which has earned two Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Her song, 'Fortnight', for which she collaborated with Post Malone, has earned three Grammy nominations, including Best Music Video and Record of the Year.

Swift was also named Spotify's most-streamed artist globally for the second year in a row. However, she did lose the crown of Billboard's Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century to Beyonce, which also wasn't received well by her fanbase.

Taylor Swift's absence from Barack Obama's favorite music of 2024 list leaves the Internet divided

While the Swifties cried foul over Barack Obama's decision to leave Taylor Swift out of his top music picks, several others thought he did the right thing and even mocked the pop star's fans for creating a fuss about it.

One wondered, "Not a single song of Taylor Swift made it on Obama favorite music of 2024. But Beyoncé and Billie Eilish made the list," and another shared, "I feel weird for admitting this but every single year I wonder 'is Obama leaving Taylor Swift off his annual music list intentionally? It’s gotta be intentional right? How can NONE of her songs have cracked the list EVER?'"

"Is anyone else disappointed and annoyed that President Obama's music list didn't have any Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, or Chappell Roan on it?" asked an individual.

"Obama hates taylor swift," declared a fan, while one more said, "When are we - as a taylor swift fan base - going to address the fact that obama doesn’t listen to taylor swift?"

One mocked Swift, writing, "And where is tayfraud?" while someone else quipped, "And my favorite taydolf with her 91 versions?" possibly hinting at the pop star releasing different versions of 'The Tortured Poets Department'.

A critic bluntly wrote, "And NOTHING for Taylor’s flop album," and another hailed his music taste, stating, "Like always, he has impeccable taste."

In the comments section of his Instagram post, when one of the users asked, "Why no Taylor?" a person responded, writing, "Because he got good music taste."
