Taylor Swift’s engagement ring: Travis Kelce may have splurged $5M on vintage-style diamond sparkler

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Pop icon Taylor Swift announced her engagement to boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in a post on social media on Tuesday, August 26.

What got everyone's attention was the vintage-styled diamond ring that Kelce gifted her. The engagement ring is an old mine brilliant cut from Kindred Lubeck at Artifex Fine Jewelry.

Talking to Daily Mail, George Khalife, known professionally as George the Jeweler, said, "This style is called a bezel setting (that’s the gold that wraps around the diamond) and it’s super popular right now, just like yellow gold in general."

The celebrity jeweler added, "The whole look feels really antique, which I think suits Taylor perfectly", and mentioned that "it looks close to 20 carats or more and would be valued between 3.5 to 5 million dollars."

"Because it’s set in yellow gold, it’s a little harder to tell the exact color, but I’d guess it’s at least F or G color with VVS clarity," he added.

Jewelry expert and founder of Abelini, Nilesh Rakholia, believes the engagement ring is more likely in the 7 to 10 carat range "which immediately places it among the most iconic celebrity engagement rings."

Talking to Daily Mail, she said, "What makes this design particularly striking is its blend of vintage charm and modern minimalism. The choice of yellow gold nods to antique inspirations, giving the ring a romantic, heirloom-like quality."

Rakholia added that it's likely the ring is closer to $1 million, making it "one of the most significant pieces" in her collection.

Meanwhile, Austin Willard, founder and CEO of Faithful Platform Fine Jewelry & Engagement Rings, told the outlet that the ring could cost $1.2 million, adding, "The low-profile setting keeps the stone from looking audacious, so it keeps the entire design grounded."

Similarly, Victoria Hirakawa-Lee of CH Jewelers said the ring is an "elongated cushion-cut diamond with an elegant spread across her finger, framed by trillion side stones in a yellow gold setting and accented with what seems to be a fine line of pavé along the shank."

The jeweler agrees that the center diamond could be in the 7 to 9 carat range, adding that "a creation of this caliber, bespoke and clearly crafted with intention, could easily be valued in the million-dollar range."

Notably, the reported values of the diamond ring have varied, as Brides and Forbes have quoted it to be $550K, and about 10 carats. Meanwhile, some other outlets have estimated the value to be between $750k and $1M, respectively.

Travis Kelce co-designed Taylor Swift's engagement ring

Taylor Swift's old mine brilliant-cut sparkler was co-designed by jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine and Travis Kelce, Page Six reported.

Meanwhile, Lubeck's bio states that she is "a goldsmith, hand engraver, and vintage jewelry collector" who now creates one-of-a-kind pieces in New York.

She told Voyage Jacksonville in 2024, "I am a goldsmith specializing in hand engraving (think of it as tattooing rings – a lot of people confuse engraving with ‘etching’). Basically, I take very small, sharp instruments and cut away bits of metal, usually on the sides of rings, into a particular design."
