Teddi Mellencamp’s health scare began with persistent migraines, which she initially dismissed as stress-related or routine headaches.
However, as the pain intensified, she began experiencing troubling symptoms such as memory lapses and difficulty speaking.
It was during a horse show that she realized something was terribly wrong.
“I remember going to my friend Nicole and saying, ‘I have the worst migraine I’ve ever had in my entire life," she recalled.
“I remember not being able to remember how to say certain words. I started shaking really bad and I didn’t know where I was,” she added.
Her symptoms escalated to an alarming level, making it nearly impossible for her to walk or see properly, according to E! News.
It was not long before she was rushed to the hospital, where doctors conducted a series of tests that ultimately revealed multiple cancerous masses in her brain.

In the midst of her health crisis, Mellencamp reached out to her best friend Tamra Judge, in a moment of despair.
Judge revealed in the podcast the heartbreaking text she received from Mellencamp.
“I don’t know if it [was] just me or if I was in the group text, but you said to me, ‘You all thought I was mental, but actually, I’m on my deathbed,’” Judge recounted on the podcast.
Judge immediately responded with words of support and encouragement, “No, you’re not, because if you’re on yours, then I’m on mine, because I can’t live without you.”

Following her diagnosis, Mellencamp underwent surgery to remove the tumors from her brain.
While the procedure was a crucial step in her treatment, doctors later discovered two additional cancerous tumors in her lungs.
These tumors were determined to be metastases of her melanoma, meaning that the cancer had spread beyond its original location.
Despite the distressing news, Mellencamp remains hopeful about her prognosis.
Her medical team has recommended immunotherapy as a treatment option, and they are optimistic that it will be effective in combating the disease over the next few months.
“I am feeling positive that I will win this battle,” Mellencamp shared in a March 6 Instagram update.
She even managed to find humor amid the challenges, joking about her hair loss, “I got this wig (I like the short hair, just not the bald spots), and I can remember all of Angelina’s kids’ names.”

Her battle with melanoma has been ongoing, as she was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022.
