AUSTIN, TEXAS: Texas Governor Greg Abbott had a classy response for Rep Jasmine Crockett after she called him "Governor Hot Wheels" during an event in Los Angeles.

Responding to the congresswoman's remarks, Abbott said that the Democrats have "no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate."

The Texas Republican dismissed the insult with a scathing response. “It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats," he said during an appearance on 'The Sean Hannity Show', the Houston Chronicle reported.

"The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it,” the governor added.

Jasmine Crockett—a Texas Democrat and self-proclaimed “rising star” of the party—has built quite a reputation for her outrageous comments. Since Kamala Harris’s 2024 election loss, Crockett has been making headlines with her remarks.

The second-term congresswoman from Texas’s 30th district is no stranger to controversy. She’s previously called for Elon Musk to be “taken down,” suggested Ted Cruz should be “knocked in the head,” and got roasted for switching up her voice once she stepped into Congress.

The latest drama unfolded at the Human Rights Campaign’s 2025 Los Angeles dinner, where Crockett delivered what she probably thought was a show-stopping line—“We in these hot a** Texas streets, honey. Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now. And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a** mess, honey.”

Abbott has been paralyzed since 1984 after a tree fell on him while he was jogging. He was just 26 at the time.

Backlash and Jasmine Crockett's defense

Jasmine Crockett sparked outrage on both sides of the political aisle after her remarks about the Texas governor. Social media tore into the congresswoman for the cruel jab.

"I don’t use this word often, but Jasmine Crockett truly is wicked. To call Greg Abbott “Governor Hot Wheels” is cruel, contemptible & speaks to your lack of character," one user posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"If Jasmine Crockett acted the way she acts in any other job, she'd be fired instantly," another wrote.

"She is absolutely the trash of Congress. Next she will play victim," someone else chimed in.

After the backlash hit, Crockett attempted to backpedal and insisted her insult had nothing to do with Abbott’s disability. Instead, she claimed she was referring to his use of transportation to send illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities.

“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” she said.

But there’s just one problem with her clarification—she previously liked a Facebook comment calling Abbott “Hot Wheels” back in 2021, the Washington Free Beacon noted.

In 2022, she asked where Abbott was "rolling to."

“It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it. It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red, and why Republicans are going to continue to win elections across the country," he declared.
