Internet 'devastated' as Blake Lively's presence sorely missed on the 2024 Met Gala red carpet
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Blake Lively is known to leave her mark on the Met Gala red carpet with iconic looks, but this year, fans were left disappointed and missed her stunning style as the star did not walk the famous steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual fete.
When Lively attended a Tiffany & Co event in New York last week, it raised hopes that she would be able to attend the Met Gala too.
Blake Lively skips Met Gala 2024
While it is not known why the 'Gossip Girl' alum wasn't in attendance at the 2024 event in New York City on May 6, Lively has been keeping herself busy with movies.
E News reported that Lively was in Italy filming 'A Simple Favor 2', the sequel to the hit 2018 comedy thriller, alongside Anna Kendrick, as well as the movie adaptation of the Colleen Hoover book 'It Ends With Us in New York'.
Last year too, Lively missed the Met Gala as it had just been a few months since she had given birth to her fourth child with Ryan Reynolds. Lively's last appearance was at the 2022 ball, when the theme was 'America: An Anthology of Fashion', and she wore a bejeweled, color-changing gown inspired by New York City and the Statue of Liberty.
About her look for the 2022 Met Gala, Lively had said in a conversation with Vogue, "Instead of looking at Gilded Age fashion, I wanted to look at architecture. New York has been a critical part of who I am…so I thought I would love to arrive in a copper dress and have it patina as I ascend the red carpet. Instead of me performing, I wanted the dress to perform.”
