'The Sopranos' star Vincent Pastore's daughter calls dad 'a giving person' in funeral tribute

NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK: ‘The Sopranos’ star Vincent Pastore was remembered by his daughter Renee Pastore as he received his final goodbye at Holy Family Church in New Rochelle, New York, on Thursday, August 6.

The service was attended by over 100 mourners, including his friends and family, after his August 1 death at his home in the Bronx, New York.

Renee called his father, best known for playing Salvatore 'Big P***y' Bonpensiero in the hit HBO series, “a giving person”, as per Page Six. “He was a man who lived out his dreams… but he knew how lucky he was,” she shared.

The devastated daughter of Vincent further added, “I think that’s why he tried to share as much of it with as many people as possible. Whether that was a big tip, always in cash, or by shaking hands with every cop on every corner.”

As per Renee, her father ran nightlife venues in Westchester before becoming a full-time actor. She recalled, “He hosted my sixth birthday party at the Crazy Horse… I remember keeping my dolls in his DJ booth.”

Concluding her tribute, Renee urged his fans and followers to be kind.

She stated, “Give your waiter a giant tip in cash. Maybe it’s a reminder to stop and talk to the bus driver, or a police officer, or make the lady behind the coffee counter laugh. That’s how we remember him. That’s a big honor.”

Steve Van Zandt remembers Vincent Pastore as 'one of a kind'

Another person who spoke about the late beloved actor was his ‘The Sopranos’ co-star Steve Van Zandt.

“We just happened to call him two days ago. The day before he died, we luckily just happened to call him,” he said of himself and his wife, Maureen, before adding, “He was one of a kind, and we’ll miss him very much.”

This came after Vincent’s longtime manager, Robert Attermann, issued a statement, saying that he “was one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever known.”

“For me, losing Vinny is deeply personal. Over more than three decades, I had the honor of watching not only his remarkable career but also the incredible person he was. I will miss his friendship, his loyalty, his humor, and his generosity,” he shared.

Atterman concluded his statement by adding, “He leaves behind a legacy that extends far beyond his memorable performances. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. May his memory be a blessing.”
