'The View' co-host Whoopi Goldberg reveals why she prefers to stay single: ‘I like a hit and run’
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Comedian Whoopi Goldberg opened up about why she prefers to stay single on the Tuesday, December 10 episode of 'The View.'
During the segment, the panelists on the ABC talk show, which included Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, were discussing a recent article in The Atlantic that stated some women are not “even looking for dates anymore because they’ve lost hope finding a suitable partner.”
According to Parade, while she currently prefers not to be romantically involved with a person, 69-year-old Goldberg is no stranger when it comes to serious relationships, as she has already been married thrice.

Opinions of 'The View' co-hosts on the subject
While introducing the subject in the Hot Topics segment, Goldberg declared, "Romance, apparently, is dead!” before suggesting that the men who are not successful in finding love may need to shift their perspectives.
"Perhaps it’s not that romance is dead, perhaps you’re looking for things that are not in your lane," she said, prompting her co-hosts to join in on the discussion.
Joy Behar mentioned the viral TikTok sound, "I’m looking for a man in finance, trust fund, 6’5″, blue eyes,” whereas Sunny Host went ahead to present some statistics.
Citing the Pew Research Center, Hostin said that reportedly “61% of men are still actively looking for their partner,” while “38% of single women are like, ‘I’m good, I’m good by myself.'”
Whoopi Goldberg on not wanting a committed relationship
Whoopi Goldberg agreed with Hostin's figures, adding, “I like a hit and run because I am not interested in a committed relationship."
However, she did share her opinion about budding romance in modern times saying, "It just occurs to me that everybody wants everything like this - (snapping her fingers) - Maybe you’ve got to take time to get to know somebody.”
Cheekily accepting co-host Sara Haines' jibe that men love her 'hit and run' policy, Goldberg added, "But one of the things that makes me so sad is that people, they don’t know how to meet each other. They don’t know how to go out and just have a good time. Forget how much money you’re making, we’re here at the bar, let’s eat some chips, let’s eat one of these nasty potatoes and see what’s going on."
Behar agreed with Goldberg's take, quipping, "Just find somebody who’s good and easy to be with."
