Alyssa Farah Griffin says Joe Biden 'is going to lose' and even 'a potato' could've beaten Trump in 2020
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: In a recent episode of ABC's 'The View,' co-hosts found themselves in the middle of a lively debate over the upcoming general election, particularly Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Griffin, a former member of Donald Trump's administration turned vocal critic, publicly expressed her reluctance to support either Trump or President Joe Biden.
Alyssa Farah Griffin's political dilemma
Griffin's stance has left her in a conundrum, as she adamantly refuses to back Trump but remains unconvinced about supporting Biden. She has voiced concerns that Biden may not secure victory in the next election, attributing his 2020 win to the unique circumstances of a global pandemic and a struggling economy.
She admitted, "[Y]ou guys ask me all the time, 'Well, you can’t support Trump.' I will not support Trump. 'But why aren’t you just backing Biden?' I’m worried Biden is going to lose to Trump."
'The View' co-hosts clash over Joe Biden's candidacy
The co-hosts, including Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, challenged Griffin on her hesitations, " "Not if people like you don’t vote for him!"
Behar emphasized the importance of individuals like Griffin voting for Biden to ensure his success. However, Griffin argued that Biden's victory in 2020 was practically a given, given the circumstances, and questioned the need for an alternative candidate.
Farah Griffin argued that the circumstances of the 2020 election favored Biden, stating, "I don’t think that we’re recognizing in 2020, when he beat Donald Trump, a potato could have beaten Donald Trump." Whoopi Goldberg countered, emphasizing Biden's competence in running a government, asserting, "And there was nobody else in the pike."
Despite Farah Griffin's reservations, Sunny Hostin interjected with a decisive stance, declaring, "There isn’t going to be another candidate. The candidate is Joe Biden." Whoopi Goldberg added, "Yeah. So suck it up!" The co-hosts pointed to Biden's achievements, citing a robust economy, low inflation, and substantial job growth.
The conversation turned to the lack of compelling Republican candidates, with Hostin quipping, "And the best candidate that the Republicans could come up with is Donald Trump." The panel collectively echoed a sentiment that, despite Farah Griffin's concerns, Joe Biden stands as the Democratic candidate with a strong platform and notable accomplishments.
