Joy Behar accuses Republicans of being 'addicted to power' after Nikki Haley endorses Trump at RNC
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: 'The View' Joy Behar expressed her disappointment in former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley for coming out in support of the party nominee Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
She was accompanied by her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin at the Hot Topics table, discussing how politicians tend to fall in line with their parties as a result of their "addiction to power."

Joy Behar slams 'big disappointment' Nikki Haley for endorsing Donald Trump
After clips of Nikki Haley's speech from the RNC were played on the show, Joy Behar remarked that it was "pathetic" and "so disheartening."
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg noted that Haley did well in the primaries against the former president and took a "decent chunk of voters with her," who would now probably be confused about switching their support to Trump.

"She is a big disappointment," Behar said of Haley. "Because now she has given permission to her people to vote for him (Trump)and they might have stayed home and voted for Biden. Who knows what they would have done, but it was like the invasion of the body snatchers last night," Behar added.
She told Hostin that she wasn't surprised with Haley deciding to back Trump, but was disheartened with all Republicans "kissing the ring of their dear leader."
Behar later went on to state, "Do you know what I Think? I think they are addicted to their power. It's an addiction. Do you have an addiction? I have an addiction to Scrabble... and I understand an addiction from that point of view. You don't want to give it up."
"And they (politicians) are addicted. They should have term limits, and they should not be there forever and ever and ever."
'The View' co-host Sunny Hostin says politicians 'only care about power'
While Joy Behar was talking about GOP leaders coming together in support of Donald Trump even though the latter made derogatory remarks about them, Sunny Hostin remarked, "They only care about power. They care about their party and power before their country, and that is very, very clear."
"Think about it- they have such an imperfect candidate," Hostin continued. "You have someone who was impeached twice, not once. You've someone who has been convicted of 34 felony counts, you have some found libel for sexual abuse, ordered to pay $355 million dollars for lying about his wealth in a New York civil fraud case, and they are all getting behind that kind of candidate. That's all you need to know about the Republican party," she added.

Co-host Allyssa Farah Griffin, in her turn, acknowledged the problem with Trump and the GOP, but also shed light on the scenario within the Democratic Party.
"I think we have a big problem in this country of just rabid party loyalty over country," she said, sharing that Rep Adam Schiff (D-Calif) had expressed in a private call that having incumbent Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee may lead to the party losing both the Senate and the House.
"You have all these Democrats who are privately saying that, but they won't then come to the public and say, 'Okay, if we want to put the country first, if we want to stop Donald Trump, let's have an open conversation. There's something about maintaining your political power in the office you hold that is intoxicating and people can't walk away from," she added.
