'You look perf': Internet backs model fired for overshadowing stars like Kylie Jenner at Met Gala
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: People have shown support to an Italian model who was allegedly fired as a greeter at the Met Gala because of his good looks.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Eugenio Casnighi shared his story via TikTok videos.
Eugenio Casnighi reveals the reason behind his termination
He said, “I just got fired from the Met Gala. I've been working for the Met Gala as a model and greeter, in 2022 and 2023, and I was supposed to do it this year.”
The 26-year-old then stated, “It's Friday and the Met Gala is on Monday and they let me know today that they cut me off, they fired me because I went viral last year.”
The online video included a clip from last year’s function that showed Emma Chamberlain interviewing Jennie Kim while Casnighi was doing his work in the background.

Eugenio Casnighi says all the blame was put on him
Casnighi further reportedly alleged that the event organizers blamed him for his popularity.
“So basically they said, 'You made it about yourself so we can't have you work there anymore,’” he added.
In the social media video, the handsome man seemingly took a dig at the Met Gala as he mentioned, “It's funny because the Met Gala and the company that I'm not going to mention...want models to work the red carpet.”

“They want people to get noticed. They literally told me ‘We picked you because we like you more than other people'. But when people took pictures of the actual celebrity, like Kylie Jenner, and was next to her, of course, I ended up in the picture,” he shared.
Eugenio Casnighi claims guests do not interact with greeters
Besides, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Casnighi disclosed more inside information about the gala.
He said about the celebrity attendees, “I'm not wearing a name tag, so at first they don't know if I'm an employee. And when realize I'm working there...some people completely change.”
“They kind of vanish. They stop talking to me and start talking to the actual guests,” he noted.
