At the start of 2024, Zendaya sent shockwaves through social media by unfollowing everyone on her Instagram, including her boyfriend and 'Spider-Man' co-star, Tom Holland. The move sparked widespread speculation about the status of their relationship.

The rumors gained momentum when fans noticed that Holland, in contrast, continued to follow Zendaya on the platform. Adding fuel to the fire, the couple had not been photographed together in public for several months.

As paparazzi confronted Tom Holland in Los Angeles, he addressed the breakup buzz during a casual stroll through an alley.

When congratulated on a fictional 'Back to the Future' gig, Holland clarified that the news was not real. When directly asked about the rumored breakup, he responded with a resolute "No, absolutely not." While he didn't provide further details, Holland's denial seems to put the breakup rumors to rest.

Holland and Zendaya, who portray onscreen love interests Peter Parker and MJ in the Spider-Man film series, initially sparked romance rumors in 2017. They officially confirmed their relationship in 2021, sharing glimpses of their romance on social media.

Despite keeping the early days of their romance private, the couple gradually became more open about their relationship. Celebrating each other's birthdays and navigating engagement rumors, they consistently emphasized the importance of protecting their personal lives.

"My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays," Tom wrote on Instagram in Sept 2021 in honor of Zendaya's special day. "Gimme a call when your up xxx."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June, Holland expressed the couple's desire to keep their relationship sacred, noting that it has nothing to do with their careers.

"Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible," Tom told The Hollywood Reporter in June. "We don't think that we owe it to anyone, it's our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers."

"Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public," the Euphoria actress told Elle in August. "I can't be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share."

"It's about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist," she added. "You can't hide. That's not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now."

The couple, facing the challenges of living in the spotlight, debunked engagement speculations after Zendaya shared a photo featuring a notable ring. In a subsequent Instagram Story video, she clarified that the post was not an announcement but a showcase of her hat.

"I can't post anything, you guys," she said in a Sept 21 Instagram Story video. "I posted it for my hat. Like not for the ring on my right hand, you guys, seriously."

"You think that's how I would drop the news?" she laughed. "You think, like, what!"
