While the late-night host's achievement may have delighted his fans of affable style, many on social media reacted sharply, ridiculing the decision, with some seeing it as a sign of Hollywood’s declining standards.

The late-night comedian's latest achievement was a result of the magazine’s annual readers’ choice poll, with Jimmy Fallon beating out Nate Burleson ('Hollywood Squares'), Michael Strahan ('The $100,000 Pyramid'), and Ryan Seacrest ('Wheel of Fortune').

People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" franchise has gradually become a renowned pop culture trend. It debuted in 1985; this year is its 40th anniversary, and the main title, "Sexiest Man Alive," was won by 'Wicked' star Jonathan Bailey. Interestingly, it was revealed on the Monday, November 3 episode of Fallon's 'The Tonight Show'.

Netizens quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on the recognition, with one bluntly declaring, “Hollywood is pathetic”.

“Bro giggled his way into the readers’ hearts,” joked a user. 

“Recognition like this reflects Fallon’s enduring charm, charisma, and ability to connect with audiences over years in entertainment,” wrote a fan. 

“Isn't he like the only one left since Kimmel and Colbert are just off the air,” commented a netizen, pointing to the dwindling late-night scene. 

Another critic opined, “Fallon and sexy don’t belong in the same sentence.”

“They're making up titles that've never been made before,” one more stated. 

An individual quipped, "That’s like giving Best Chef to the guy who burns toast but tells good jokes while doing it."

Jimmy Fallon once campaigned for the title

Last year, Jimmy Fallon playfully campaigned for "Sexiest Talk Show Host," but he lost to Mark Consuelos. 

He also aired a parody "attack ad" against Consuelos on 'The Tonight Show' and joked, "Mark Conseul-who?"

Fallon later told his audience, "He is sexy every day. I don't even get on these lists at all."
