Oliver Stone dubbed 'jealous' as he claims Ryan Gosling is 'wasting his time' making movies like 'Barbie'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Legendary director Oliver Stone is no stranger to controversy, but his latest comments may have finally gone too far.
In a scathing resurfaced interview, the 77-year-old Stone took aim at one of Hollywood's most beloved leading men, Ryan Gosling, declaring that the versatile actor is "wasting his time" by starring in 'Barbie,' as reported by The Independent.
Stone launched a disdainful tirade against big-budget blockbusters, labeling popular films like 'Fast & Furious' as "infantile" fantasy and asserting that Gosling should focus on more "serious" projects.
However, judging by the robust online criticism, it seems Stone might be the one expressing his opinions in vain.

Oliver Stone believes Ryan Gosling 'shouldn't be a part of this infantilization of Hollywood'
In a resurfaced interview with City AM from last year, Stone made the incendiary remarks when asked if he would consider directing a hypothetical 'Barbie' sequel.
"Ridiculous. Ryan Gosling is wasting his time if he's doing that s**t for money," Stone stated bluntly. "He should be doing more serious films. He shouldn't be a part of this infantilization of Hollywood."
Stone continued his tirade against mainstream Hollywood hits by targeting action franchises like 'The Fast and the Furious' and 'John Wick.'
"Now it's all fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, including all the war pictures: fantasy, fantasy," said Stone.
"Even the Fast and Furious movies, which I used to enjoy, have become like Marvel movies." Stone then revealed he'd been unable to stay awake while watching 'John Wick 3' on a recent flight.
"I kept waking up and having to face him killing more people. It’s like the world has degenerated into non-logic," he said.
These biting condemnations of popcorn action movies are just the latest in Stone's long history of vocal Hollywood criticism. In 2020, he called modern blockbusters overly "sensitive" and beholden to "Covid advisers" as well as "sensitivity counselors."
In recent years, Stone has switched gears to create issue-driven documentaries like last year's 'Nuclear Now,' which advocates for expanding nuclear energy - a cause Stone is quite passionate about.
Internet erupts with the backlash to Oliver Stone's comments about Ryan Gosling in 'Barbie'
The internet wasted no time in reacting to Stone's comments about Gosling as social media platforms buzzed with users expressing their disagreement and disdain for Stone's viewpoint.
One X user dismissed Stone, saying, "Bro has never had any fun in his life," while another speculated, "Think that guy is jealous."
Others questioned Stone's relevance, with one user noting, "A man we've never heard of before is judging Ryan Gosling acting in major films." Meanwhile, a defender of 'Barbie' chimed in, asserting its global success: "And who are you? Barbie was a worldwide smash."
