LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Amethyst Amelia Kelly, better recognized by her stage name, Iggy Azalea, has made a pivotal decision in her career.

The Australian artist celebrated for her hit songs like 'Problem' and 'Fancy' has declared that she will not be finishing her eagerly awaited new album.

In a surprising move, Azalea, 33 has decided to redirect her artistic talents towards projects involving design and creativity.

Recently Taylor Swift topped Billboard's Vinyl Albums chart blocking Jason Kelce's album from securing the No. 1 spot.

Additionally, the internet recently buzzed with excitement as Britney Spears brought on board Charli XCX for her new album.

What did Iggy Azalea say about her new album?

On Wednesday, January, 3, the 33-year-old artist posted an extensive message on X (formerly Twitter).

In the post, she explained that she has decided not to complete the project and will instead be embarking on various other creative pursuits.

"I’ve always been someone who finds my joy in being creative & seeing my ideas come to life. For a long time I used music to deliver my big crazy ideas to the world," Azalea penned.

"I know a lot of people have this idea that I was 'bullied away from music' and that’s something I’ve always laughed at because I’d never be bullied out of anything! In fact, I’m too stubborn," she went on.

She revealed, "I think I’ve even resisted changes within myself at times, purely because I don’t like being viewed as someone who quits."

Azalea subsequently disclosed that she would be transitioning from her musical career to explore other avenues.

"In truth what I’ve known for a long time is that I feel more passionately about design and creative direction than I do about song writing," she detailed and added, "To many of you that’s no shock to read."

"It shows in my work. 🥲 Haha! Jokes aside, I do spend a lot more time on that part of things… because I'm most confident at that," she continued.

She further stated, "That’s why I want to let you know that I’m not going to finish my album. It’s been paused for a few months while I was giving direction for a different project & in truth I just haven’t felt the urge to go back to it."

The rapper reportedly feels "really happy & passionate when she's "focused on that."

She said, "I want to stick to what’s undeniably best for me. Can't wait to start sharing some of the things I’ve been involved in creating & hoping you’ll see my quirk & humor in anything I touch!"

The artist known for her hit 'Black Widow' then extended an apology to her fans who were anticipating new music from her.

She explained, "I know for some fans this probably makes you feel a little deflated - I’m sorry to let you down. But, it’s more important I don’t let myself down. I hope you'll understand."

When a fan inquired if she still planned to release a coffee table book, Azalea responded, "The process is taking longer because I had to deal with an unexpected illness and need to gather a bit more material before it’s finished."

Fans react as Iggy Azalea calls quits on new album

Fans quickly voiced their reactions on social media following the announcement. While some expressed their disappointment, others were more critical.

One X user tweeted, "This is so frustrating and disappointing."

Another fan said, "First Rihanna then Selena and now Iggy??? The Girls have lost interest in making music."

"Girl we didn’t wanna hear the album anyways," remarked a user.

"Prioritizing design over songwriting might not resonate well with her audience, potentially diluting her presence in the music industry." added another.

Another fan noted, "I like her but it’s paused because what she thought was gonna be her comeback single flopped."

"SHE KNOWS IT WOULD FLOP," stated another. One user wrote, "It shows the younger generations that it’s never too late to become what you really want and I love it."

"Interesting, is good for her to focus on new life," mentioned another. "Follow the heart iggy," said another.
