'This was horrible': Internet mocks RFK Jr as he apologizes for vintage Kennedy Super Bowl ad
WASHINGTON, DC: Just hours after a vintage advertisement for his campaign ran during February 11, Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII, 2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr issued an apology, inciting outrage from at least one other member of the Kennedy family.
The Super PAC that created the advertisement, which was a near-exact replica of the well-known commercial that John F Kennedy, Kennedy's uncle, ran for president more than 60 years ago, was charged with unlawfully assisting in the placement of RFK Jr on the ballots in many states.
RFK Jr airs Super Bowl Ad worth $7M
With the same melody and concept, American Values 2024 aired a 30-second commercial that was a replica of a 1960 campaign spot for his uncle, the late President John F Kennedy.
The nationwide advertisement, according to the super PAC, aired for $7 million. Pictured in the advertisement were Robert F Kennedy Jr giving testimony before Congress and skiing, with the slogan 'vote independent'.
Kennedy took to X and wrote, "Our momentum is growing. It’s time for an Independent President to heal the divide in our country."

RFK Jr apologizes to his kin
RFK Jr took to Twitter/X to apologize for the vintage Kennedy Super Bowl Ad that ended up prompting an angry response from at least one other member of the clan.
He apologized on social media platform X saying, “I’m so sorry if the Super Bowl advertisement caused anyone in my family pain. The ad was created and aired by the American Values Super PAC without any involvement or approval from my campaign. FEC rules prohibit Super PACs from consulting with me or my staff. I love you all. God bless you.”

For his part, Kennedy Jr asserted that he was not accountable for the advertisement's substance and that his involvement with the Super PAC that ran the commercial violated FEC regulations.
Internet trolls RFK Jr for Super Bowl Ad
Many internet users on X took a jibe at RFK Jr and dropped their views on the Super Bowl Ad. A user wrote, “This was horrible, trading on his family legacy when he's trashing everything they have stood for. He blames the PAC. Who believes he didn't want this? Obviously, his family made it clear how they feel” whereas another person said, “It was a pretty weird ad, too... like, he's promoting the fact that he's the young candidate, but he's running a commercial that is, what, 60+ years old?”

Obviously, his family made it clear how they feel.
Another person mentioned, “And it’s BS — he should’ve known. Opportunist needs to drop out” whereas one added, “The ad sucked too. With all the amazing Kennedy family imagery, they blew it. Plus the washed-out look, the music, the serial-killer-esque newsprint cut-outs. Bad design all around.”
