‘This was so sad to watch’: Wendy Williams' documentary breaks viewership records but fans remain upset
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Lifetime documentary on Wendy Williams has reportedly broken the viewership record of former record-holding ‘The Prison Confessions Of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.’
The TV channel claimed that Williams’ series, ‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’, was watched by an average of 1.2M people in two nights, Daily Mail reported.
It has also been said that a total of 6.2M viewers, covering both linear and digital platforms watched the special.
‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’ creates history
Interestingly, ‘Where Is Wendy Williams?’ reportedly surpassed ‘The Prison Confessions Of Gypsy Rose Blanchard’ in the category of live and/or same-day watching.
But the former media personality’s publicist has slammed the creators of the Lifetime documentary.
Wendy Williams' publicist Shawn Zanotti blasted Lifetime for not showing 'good moments' in documentary
Shawn Zanotti told NBC News, “I felt that [Williams] was being exploited. She thought we were focusing on the comeback of her career. ... She would be mortified.”
“There’s no way you can convince me that she would be OK with looking and seeing herself in that way,” Zanotti asserted.

The author of ‘Embracing the Rock in Your Journey’ also shared that “that is not the project that [Williams] signed up for. That’s not the project [the producers] brought to me. That’s not what I told her this was going to be about.”
“There were a lot of good moments. None of those good moments were shown," she claimed.
Also, in an interview with PEOPLE, Zanotti mentioned, “It's horrible they would do something like this to her. And for what gain? For what reason?”
She added, “I would never let Wendy put her name and brand on the line like that ever. She's an icon. It's not the story we signed up for and I feel lied to. It's so difficult for me to even watch. Wendy would be mortified.”
