FREEPORT, FLORIDA: Tim Walz's older brother Jeff Walz has some serious concerns about the Minnesota Governor's ability to make decisions that could shape America’s future.

In a series of Facebook comments, Jeff made it clear that he strongly opposes his brother’s ideas, describing himself as “100% opposed to all his ideology.”

Tim Walz currently serves as the governor of Minnesota and is running as the vice presidential candidate alongside Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris.

Jeff's reservations about his brother are not just a matter of differing opinions; they appear to be deeply personal. In response to a Facebook user who encouraged him to “Get on stage with president Trump and endorse him,” Jeff admitted was giving it serious consideration.

“I’ve thought long and hard about doing something like that! I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it,” the 67-year-old Floridian wrote. “The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future,” he added.

Tim Walz's family background and estrangement

Tim Walz's family has a history marked by both tragedy and estrangement. Tim and Jeff have a sister named Sandy Dietrich who resides in Nebraska. Tragically, they had another brother Craig Walz who died in 2016 when a tree fell on him during a storm in Minnesota.

Jeff and Tim Walz have reportedly not spoken to each other in eight years, according to the former's own admission on Facebook. What's more? Tim Walz reportedly did not inform his family when he was chosen as Kamala Harris’s running mate. “My family wasn’t given any notice that he was selected,” Jeff wrote.

Jeff's sentiments toward his younger brother came to light when conservative activist Laura Loomer found a Facebook post he made on March 30, 2023—the same day Trump was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for hush money payments to Stormy Daniels. "We’ve just become a third world banana republic," Jeff wrote at the time.

Of course, Tim Walz’s career has not been without controversy. Critics have pointed out inconsistencies in the portrayal of his military service, as well as his delayed response in calling the National Guard during the George Floyd riots.

Jeff Walz’s background and parallels with Tim Walz

Jeff Walz is a registered Republican and made a $20 donation to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, according to Federal Election Commission records. Interestingly, there are no recorded donations to Tim Walz during his time as a US Representative.

Jeff currently resides in Freeport, Florida, with his wife Laurie. Together, they previously owned So Fine Music — a musical instrument and equipment store in Inverness, Florida, from 2001 to 2010. Jeff also worked as an assistant principal at a middle school in Citrus County, Florida, in the early 2000s.

Despite his frustrations, Jeff has chosen to remain relatively private. When contacted by the New York Post, he told the outlet that he was “not doing interviews.”

Little has been reported about his life in Florida. His wife Laurie is connected on Facebook with various members of the extended Walz family, including Tim and Sandy Dietrich. The couple was also listed among the surviving relatives in the obituary of Craig Walz.

Jeff and Tim Walz share some similarities when it comes to their respective brushes with the law. Tim was arrested in 1995 for drunken driving after being caught driving over 40 mph above the speed limit. Meanwhile, Jeff pleaded guilty to misdemeanor retail theft in 2001, a charge that resulted in six months of probation.

Records from Citrus County revealed that Jeff allegedly stole a bicycle tube, handlebar grips, and a three-way outlet adapter, items totaling $13, from a Walmart in Inverness. He was reprimanded by Florida’s Education Practices Commission and ordered to perform community service, attend a shoplifting course, pay $260 in fines, and avoid returning to the store.

Tim Walz’s political career

A former educator, Tim Walz has garnered a reputation as one of the most radical leftist leaders in the United States. As the current governor of Minnesota, he implemented some of the strictest COVID lockdowns in the country that many believe led to a decline in educational standards during his tenure.

Walz has also aligned himself with progressive causes, including pledging his commitment to equity—a principle often associated with Marxist ideology. His administration has taken brazen steps to transform Minnesota into a “trans refugee” state by enacting legislation that protects "gender-affirming care" and mandates the provision of tampons in school bathrooms.
