Todd Chrisley blasts Trump critics for 'begging for pardons' after talking 'mad s**t' about president

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Todd Chrisley came to Donald Trump's defense during a surprise appearance on his daughter Savannah Chrisley's podcast, 'Unlocked'.
The reality TV star recently received a presidential pardon from Trump, along with his wife, Julie Chrisley, on May 28.
Todd Chrisley slams Democrats over pardon pleas
The couple had been convicted in 2022 of bank fraud and tax evasion. Todd Chrisley was serving a 12-year sentence, while Julie Chrisley was serving seven years, before their sentences were wiped clean.
While on the podcast, Todd criticized Democrats who sought help after once condemning Donald Trump.
“This group of Democrats yesterday, they posted a thing about our pardon,” Todd said on the podcast.
“And they said, ‘Dear Mr President, can you help so and so?’ And I went back and said, ‘Who’d you vote for?’ Don’t start coming begging for a pardon now when you… ran him in the ground, talked all this mad s**t," he added.
Todd also commented on the broader political climate and the idea of prosecuting former presidents.
He criticized efforts to imprison Trump and took a jab at Democrats for what he sees as targeting political opponents.

“Locking up our presidents?” he said it was never heard before, adding his disapproval of such actions.
He further targeted Hillary Clinton, sarcastically referring to “The Clinton news network,” while speaking about his views on political bias.
Todd Chrisley says Joe Biden 'never knew he was in the White House'
When asked about Joe Biden, Todd Chrisley deflected blame, making a sarcastic remark. “He never knew he was in the White House,” Todd said, suggesting that Biden’s awareness was lacking, referring to his alleged cognitive decline while in the office.

Chrisley also shared his thoughts about the prison system, stating, “I believe in prison,” while clarifying, “I’m not sitting here saying to abolish prisons.”

He added, “Yes, but at the end of the day, we incarcerate more individuals in the United States of America than any other country in the world," OK! reported.
Donald Trump's phone call to Savannah Chrisley
The day before the pardons, Donald Trump had called Savannah Chrisley directly.
On the call, Trump said, “It’s a terrible thing,” referring to the couple’s conviction.
He continued, “But it’s a great thing because your parents are going to be free and clean, and I hope we can do it by tomorrow. Is that okay? We’ll try getting it done tomorrow. I don’t know them, but give them my regards and wish them well. Wish them a good life.”

Savannah reportedly broke down in tears after hearing the news. “They were given a pretty harsh treatment based on what I’m hearing,” Trump added during the call.
“Congratulate your parents. I hear they’re terrific people. This should not have happened. Boy, they have good children. You’re no longer children, but I’ll say it anyway. They have good children, don’t they?" Trump told Savannah, who has aggressively campaigned for their release.
Todd told the press after his release, “Even though this pardon has happened, I still was convicted of something that I did not do. It could be you. It could be any of you.”
When asked about remorse, he said, “I would have remorse if it was something I did.”

While many fans expressed their excitement about his podcast appearance, there were also critics condemning him for being ungrateful.
One critic wrote on Instagram, “I like Todd but Trump has just gone too far. He is out of control.”
Another added, “Todd……you’re damn lucky Trump is as shady as he is or you’d still be in jail. I love your show but you might keep quiet and be in a state of thankfulness for a moment…..there are a lot more people more deserving of a pardon than you that will sit in jail for the rest of their life. Don’t be hateful. People like you.”
Another user posted, “Again, this is a good example of what I’m talking about. They only got pardon, because they are ‘Trump loyalist.’ Trump loves the most gullible and easily influenced people, seems like this family has fit in the bill. Just spewing out hateful rhetoric left and right. No value.”
Others reacted with mixed feelings. “I’m so glad he still has his sense of humor 🤣🤣🤣.”
Another commented, “Damn. I liked him.” One more added, “I LOVE THIS 😂😂.”
