PENSACOLA, FLORIDA: Reality TV personality Todd Chrisley claimed that he is being targeted by guards at the Florida prison where he was sent on remand for tax evasion because he has spoken out about the poor conditions there.

Speaking with NewsNation's Brian Entin, the 54-year-old 'Chrisley Knows Best' star claimed that though he is serving a 10-year sentence at the Federal Prison Camp, Pensacola, he was denied access to the chapel by the guards, per Daily Mail.

In June 2022, the TV star and his 50-year-old wife, Julie Chrisley, were convicted of a total of $30 million in bank fraud and tax evasion charges.

Todd's original 12-year sentence was reduced to 10 years, while his wife's initial seven-year sentence was shortened to 14 months. Since January 2023, she has been serving her sentence at the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Todd Chrisley claimed Florida prison guards won't let him pray in the chapel

Todd is currently serving a 10-year sentence at the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida. Previously, Todd's attorney, Jay Surgent, stated that despite any discontent Todd may have with his current situation, he would probably not hastily seek relocation to another facility.

However, because of his comments concerning the Federal Prison Camp (FPC), Todd appears to be worried about potential retaliation from the officials and guards at the new prison.

During his conversation with NewsNation, Todd alleged that guards were deliberately impeding his access to the chapel as a means of "intimidation."

"They had sent the priest out of here in the middle of his service. Made him leave," Todd remarked. "They have never found any contraband in there."

He insisted that the guards were attempting to "intimidate" him and further stated that they were performing searches after learning he would be doing another interview.

"I just walked out and said, 'It ain't going to change what I am going to say,'" stated Todd.

Todd Chrisley previously claimed prison guards were 'starving' prisoners and feeding them expired foods

During a December 2023 interview with NewsNation, the 54-year-old criticized the Federal Prison Camp (FPC), alleging that prison guards were "starving" inmates and providing them with expired food.

He asserted that deceased cats had previously fallen into food supplies from a roof infested with mold, a claim that a source from the jail bluntly denied. Todd also alleged that rodents and squirrels had been observed in the food storage facility.

According to the reality star, the commissary was "so disgustingly filthy" that he opted to only consume food he prepared for himself.

Todd additionally alleged that guards were singling him out due to his privileged status as a celebrity. "There are recordings of staff members here talking about 'he needs to be humbled,'" he said at the time.

"'What we need to do is we need to put him in diesel therapy and put him in shackles and let him ride around the country, and then bring him back and that will humble him,'" Todd said of the prison guards.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons released a statement in response to Todd's accusations. The statement said, "It is the mission of the Federal Bureau of Prisons to operate facilities that are safe, secure, and humane."

"We take seriously our duty to protect the individuals entrusted in our custody, as well as maintaining the safety of our employees and the community. Humane treatment of the men and women in our custody is a top priority."

Food that has gone bad is "discarded and not utilized," the Federal Bureau of Prisons stated.
