Tom Brady admits he isn’t a 'perfect parent' after Netflix roast upsets children: 'It was tough'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Brady is reflecting on the impact of his 2024 Netflix roast and admits it came at a cost to his family.
The retired NFL star shared that the jokes made during the special hurt his children, and now he sees the event as a parenting mistake.
Tom Brady opens up about Netflix roast's impact on his children
Tom Brady participated in Netflix’s 'The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady', which aired live in May 2024.
The event featured celebrity appearances from Kevin Hart, Nikki Glaser, Kim Kardashian, and others who took turns roasting the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

"It was tough on my kids for sure," Brady admitted on the 'Impaulsive' podcast with Logan Paul.
He added it "was really hard" on his children—John 'Jack' Edward Thomas, 17, whom he shares with ex Bridget Moynahan, and Benjamin Rein, 15, and Vivian Lake, 12, from his marriage to ex-wife Gisele Bundchen.

Brady further said, "There's some things as a parent you f**k up, and you don't realize until after. We're not perfect parents. You'll see as you grow up, there's no perfect manual for it," People reported.
Tom Brady says post-event talk with his children felt like a ‘stake through the heart’
Tom Brady said he did enjoy the event overall, describing the experience as unforgettable.
"When you were in that moment, in that theater that night at the Forum, it was electric. It was crazy," Brady said.
He continued, "We got done, everybody was on Cloud 9. I think that moment I'll never forget."
However, the joy quickly turned to "regret" once he spoke to his children. "I'll never forget when I talked to my kids the next day. I felt like a stake through the heart, understandably," Brady added.
He recalled their confused reaction. "They wanted to know 'what was the point' and 'why did you do that.'" Brady said, adding, his children are "protective of their mom, of their dad, of everybody."
Gisele Bundchen reportedly upset as Tom Brady roast jokes hit too close to home
Several jokes were directed at Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s 2022 divorce during the roast.
Comedian Nikki Glaser joked, "Tom Brady, five-time Super Bowl MVP, most career wins, most career touchdowns, you have seven rings — well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back."

Glaser later told People in December 2024 that she would apologize if she ever met Bundchen in person.
“I think that comedy is always going to upset someone. And I think if I were her, I would've been annoyed too."
She further said, "If I ever met her, I would definitely apologize for hurting her feelings if she was indeed upset about it.”
She also noted that she’d heard Bundchen “wasn’t happy with some jokes,” though she didn’t know which ones.
A source told People at the time, "Gisele's priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted."
Brady and Bundchen were married for 13 years before their split in October 2022. Since then, Brady is believed to be single and dating casually.
