Tom Cruise's daughter Suri has 'quietly split' with musician BF Toby Cohen, claims source

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Suri Cruise, 18, and her musician boyfriend Toby Cohen, also 18, have "split quietly," with the teenage lovers no longer communicating following a brief summer romance, as reported by Daily Mail.

The former couple made their public debut in June when Toby went to prom with Suri as her date. Moreover, they showed off their love for one another without holding back in the weeks that followed.

Suri Cruise's graduation in June 2023 sparked a flurry of activity throughout New York. She was pictured with Toby Cohen during prom and graduation.

Toby is a student at Boston's esteemed Berklee College of Music, while the famous teenager is a freshman at Carnegie Mellon University.

Many believed the two were a couple because of the pictures of them holding hands and kissing. However, the longtime friends ended their romance before they "went to college" in August, and according to insiders, Suri found the split "not easy."

The insider said, "Suri believed she was in love and wasn’t afraid to show the world, so the breakup was not easy on her, but she has worked through this with the help of her friends."

Besides dealing with a broken heart, Suri also had to deal with the sadness of losing the friendship that existed between the two before they began dating.

"They split quietly at the end of summer. She was good friends with him for a long time so that made it especially hard but she’s a strong young woman," the source added.

The fashion student, however, is now content with the split and is certain that she made the "right decision." The source said, "When she started school and they both went away she knew she had made the right decision."

"They are currently not in communication, but she has no hard feelings towards him," the source added.

Back in June, Suri looked enamored when Toby went to her prom at LaGuardia High School. Later, they were spotted sharing a kiss in Central Park and other low-key locations throughout the city.

On August 5, however, Suri was photographed in Brooklyn crying during a tearful phone call, raising eyebrows.

Although the couple did not publicly declare their separation, Toby Cohen appeared to have turned his heartbreak into music, as evidenced by the covers of songs about love and loss he posted on his TikTok account.

The young singer performed a rendition of Shawn Mendes' song 'Isn't That Enough' with the lyrics "My hand's still shakin'/ my mind's still racin' / My heart's still breakin' in two," on August 16.

Toby posted a sample of an original song he wrote back in October that referred to missing someone. He sang, "Don't say you miss mess/cuz I miss me too/Our past ain't history/ cause the lies were true."

He released a sample of another original song he composed 'About birds' that same month, which dealt with emotions related to relationships and love.

He sang, "I've been listening for the birds/ cause they call when you're in trouble/ I've been trying to find the words to tell you that I love you."

"It’s obvious when this breakup occurred because the tone of his music and his posts took a turn to heartache," the source said.

Speaking about their breakup, a second insider added: "Yes, they split before they went off to college and she didn’t feel the need to share it with the world. These are two very private people who experienced a breakup before starting their next chapters."

They mentioned that Suri is currently concentrating on living life to the fullest and has no intention of dwelling too much on her broken heart.

"Suri is only 18 and she has her whole life to live. She's really enjoying this time just being a college freshman," the source said.

However, the rising star proved that she was moving on when she was earlier spotted celebrating Thanksgiving with her mother Katie Holmes in New York City, looking happier.
