LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Hanks recently shared that even the cast members of ‘Toy Story 5’ did not know that Taylor Swift had sung for the new movie.

Tom Hanks says Taylor Swift singing for 'Toy Story 5' is a huge thing
The A-list star, who attended the event alongside Swift, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack, shared that the movie’s cast members “did not know until, literally, when the moment came.” He added, “They ushered us into a soundproof room and said, ‘Tonight at 9 p.m., the true end title song is going to drop, and it’s by Taylor Swift.’”
“And I was like, ‘You guys kept this from us all?’ And we saw the movie without [the song], we had some dummy thing in there,” he added.
Hanks also noted that Swift’s association with the film was “like saying, ‘By the way, Judy Garland is singing “Over the Rainbow” at the beginning of this.’ That kind of thing.”
Taylor Swift says singing for 'Toy Story 5' felt like 'coming home'
Swift’s song ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ was released on June 5. The pop icon shared a throwback video on her Instagram account the same day, which showed the little Swift dressed in a cowboy suit.
In the caption, she wrote, “Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.”
“And being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond,” the ‘Cruel Summer’ hitmaker stated as she continued expressing gratitude for the opportunity.
Swift also mentioned Jack Antonoff, who worked alongside her for the song, in her social media post.
“We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods,” she added.
'I Knew It, I Knew You' broke records on first day of its release
Meanwhile, as soon as ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ was released, it broke streaming records.
Apple Music shared that the original track became its “biggest Country Single of 2026 and broke Apple Music’s all-time record for the biggest soundtrack single, based on first-day plays.”
Spotify declared that the song “became the most-streamed country song in a single day by a female artist in Spotify history.”
Also, Amazon M added that ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ had the “the biggest first 24-hour streaming debut globally for any song” in 2026.
