WASHINGTON DC: In an interview with Fox News on Friday, January 26, Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley targeted former President Donald Trump by accusing him of being "totally unhinged," citing his latest threat to put Haley's campaign donors and contributors on a blacklist.

The former governor of South Carolina also attacked the Republican National Committee's (RNC) decision to name Trump as the presumed GOP presidential nominee even though only two states had held GOP primary elections yet.

According to The Hill, Trump is said to have supported the effort but later openly rejected it.

What did Haley say during her interview on Friday?

Fox News anchor Dana Perino asked Haley if she had spoken to RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel after she declared earlier this week that the GOP should unite behind Trump.

Perino asked the former United Nations ambassador, “First of all, Ronald McDaniel, the head of the Republican National Committee on Tuesday night, she said that she thinks you should get out of the race. Have you spoken to her?”

“I let her know how disappointed I was,” Haley replied.

She continued, “Let's look at the last 48 hours, Dana. I mean, first of all, you had election night. Trump gets on stage. He throws an absolute temper tantrum talking about revenge, but he says nothing about the American people, nothing about what he's going to do about the wasteful spending that he encouraged and allowed the Republicans and Democrats to do in his term.”

“He said nothing about how he's going to secure the border and what he's going to do different that he didn't do when he was president before. He said nothing about how he's going to prevent war,” she argued.

Haley reiterated her criticism regarding the threats made by Trump to her donors

Specifically, Trump had warned that those who donated to Haley, his sole remaining rival in the 2024 presidential primary race, would not be considered a part of the "MAGA camp".

“Then he goes and says that he’s gonna ban anyone from MAGA that donates to me. Think about that,” Haley stated. “That’s a president who’s supposed to serve every person in America and you’re deciding that you’re going to have a club and actually banned people from being in and out of your club.”

During the Republican primaries, there were claims that Donald Trump urged members of the Republican National Committee (RNC) to declare him as the presumptive GOP nominee.

However, despite issuing a statement that suggested the party should stop the effort, Trump's supporters continued to push for his nomination.

“And then he goes and encourages the members of the RNC and tries to push them into saying that he's the nominee in the race. I mean, they got so much pushback that he had to backtrack. But at the end of the day, our focus is still on the American people,” Haley concluded.

The resolution that would have effectively ended the Republican primary was spearheaded by David Bossie, a member of the RNC committee.

Nevertheless, some members of the committee criticized the move, arguing that it would have deprived voters of a choice in the primary process. To secure the GOP nomination, a Republican candidate needs to win 1,215 delegates.

At the time of the primaries, Donald Trump had secured 32 delegates.

Internet says 'too little too late' as Nikki Haley dubs Donald Trump ‘totally unhinged’

People on X sided with Haley’s concerns regarding the former president’s desperation to secure the GOP presidential nomination by means of convincing members of the RNC to do his bidding.

One X user remarked, “Too little, too late, Nikki. You should have dumped Trump much earlier and then received more moderate/independent votes in New Hampshire. You cannot convert MAGA supporters, so why bother?"

Another user quipped: "I’m self banning from MAGA."

Another user wrote, "She needs to stay in the race until the end. Republicans need to hear this over and over again. He is not fit to be in office".

One user stated, "She should have been saying this the whole time. Too little too late IMO."

Another X user remarked, "Saying what needs to be said. As long as she's in the primary, Fox will still let her speak. Otherwise..."

Finally, one user tweeted, "Go get 'em Nikki. Bring a modicum of reason back to the GOP."
