WILDWOOD, NEW JERSEY: A highly-anticipated rally by former President Donald Trump in New Jersey on Saturday, May 11, faced turmoil as thousands of attendees were captured on video abruptly leaving while the one-term leader was still delivering his remarks.

The viral footage, which quickly spread across social media platforms, depicted a mass exodus from the beach venue as Trump carried on with his characteristically "rambling" speech, as per Newsweek.

The New Jersey event had been heavily promoted by the Trump campaign and his allies, who boasted of drawing over 100,000 supporters to the seaside town.

However, the reality on the ground appeared to tell a different story, with reporters and attendees alike questioning the declared crowd size and highlighting the surprising number of people who opted to walk out before Trump had even finished speaking.

The dramatic scene unfolded before the cameras of Walter Masterson, an attendee who began recording as crowds began streaming away from the stage area. "Here is 35 unedited minutes showing thousands of MAGA walking out on Trump while he's still talking," Masterson wrote on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Masterson's footage, which rapidly went viral, captured the surreal sight of a steady stream of Trump supporters departing the rally grounds, even as the former president's voice could be heard continuing to address those who remained.

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. At one point, an attendee can be heard confirming the time as 6.48 pm, indicating that the exodus began just 28 minutes into Trump's 90-minute speech.

"You can clearly see that people are leaving while [Trump is] rambling incoherently. This happens at a lot of rallies, cultists show up thinking he will say something new and profound. Then they get bored and walkout," Masterson observed in a follow-up post.

Indeed, the New Jersey rally was marked by several of Trump's trademark bizarre statements and gaffes, which may have contributed to the apparent restlessness of his supporters. At one point, he talked about the "late, great Hannibal Lecter," describing the fictional serial killer character as "a wonderful man".

Another user quipped, "Even clowns get boring with the same shtick."

Another user chimed in, "Even the MAGA muppets don't want to listen to an ageing, orange fartsock waffling incoherently."

While a fourth user added, "Even his most loyal cultic base is now deserting him!!! Game Over, sucker loser!!!"

A fifth user observed, "Trump's schtick never changes. It's a constant loop of unhinged bravado and whining."

Meanwhile, a sixth user remarked, "A train wreck will only hold your attention for so long."

A seventh user joked, "They came to see a car crash, saw it, then left."

Lastly, a user wrote, "They're probably just full, from the all-you-can-hate buffet."
