Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift dated for '6 months' before making it official, says Chiefs star's neighbor

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: Travis Kelce's neighbor has claimed that Taylor Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs' star were already dating "six months" before they made it official.

Kelce's neighbor Wes Bergmann also claimed that he was the first to know about the tight end's relationship with Swift before anyone else knew it, according to Perez Hilton.

During an episode of the 'Social Game' podcast in February 2025, Bergmann talked about Kelce's relationship with Taylor while it was still in the early stages.

He said while chatting with host Michele Fitzgerald, "I was like the first person to know about any of this stuff. I tried to tell [Michele] a long time ago."

Bergmann added, "I was like, 'They’re together, just so you know'… but she didn’t believe me. She didn’t believe it. She was like, 'she only goes for artists'. I beat the validating of her showing up to games and stuff by like six months."

Meanwhile, Michele said she didn’t believe it because T-Swizzle often seems to go for "scrawnier", "brooding artists" and not NFL players, per Perez Hilton.

Meanwhile, Bergmann did not clarify whether he really saw Kelce and Swift together or if it was just rumors that he heard.

However, many Swifties believed he messed up with the timeline. Bergmann took to social media platform X on Tuesday, March 4, and wrote, "Omg y’all I’m so sorry and confused. Everything being reported on is none of my business. My contribution to this was taken out of context and said in what I thought was relative obscurity, but it obviously wasn’t."

He added, "He moved in November, that’s all I know. I told Michele, who is a giant fan, hey this is serious. She didn’t believe me for six months. That was the intention of the comment. Again it was taken out of context but I shouldn’t be talking about it anyway. So consider this the last time I do."

Insiders claim Taylor Swift influenced Travis Kelce's 'poetic' retirement decision

Travis Kelce faced speculation regarding his potential retirement after the Kansas City Chiefs' 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX last month.

However, the 35-year-old confirmed earlier in March 2025 that he will be returning for his 13th NFL season and debunked retirement rumors. Insiders revealed that Taylor Swift reportedly played a key role in his decision.

Sources told Daily Mail, "They’ve talked about how cool it would be for him to play his 13th year—Taylor’s favorite number—and if it were his last, how poetic that would be."

Interestingly, Taylor Swift was born on December 13, and she has been vocal for years about how the number pops up in her life everytime.

According to Today, she earlier told in an interview, "I was born on the 13th, I turned 13 on Friday the 13th, my first album went gold in 13 weeks. Also, my first song that ever went number 1, it had a 13-second intro, I didn’t even do that on purpose!"
