Travis Kelce calls himself an 'American idiot' as he recounts huge blunder while meeting Prince William

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Travis Kelce called himself an 'American idiot' after meeting Prince William at girlfriend Taylor Swift's show at Wembley Stadium, England, as he missed out on a basic curtsy.

Speaking on his 'New Heights' podcast with brother Jason, Travis said that he only shook Prince William's hand when they met and "wasn't sure if I was supposed to like bow", per Mirror.

He said during the podcast, "I didn't realise this because obviously we're backstage meeting him because he was there with little George and Charlotte, and they were an absolute delight to meet. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to like bow to them, curtsy, just be an American idiot and shake their hand."

He added, "We wanted to be polite, especially on this side of the park."

Jason interjected and said, "But they said that because we weren't at like an official royal event, we didn't need to bow or curtsy. If it would have been like an official meeting of royalty event, then it would have been that. But I did still address him as your royal highness."

Travis replied, "Yeah, no, 100%", and Jason said, "And I've never felt emasculated." He added, "I gotta say, Prince William was fantastic, but the highlight was Princess Charlotte. Prince George was great too. She was so f**ing adorable. Like I cannot express how, I don't know, maybe it's because I have three girls now. It was, she had fire to her. She was asking questions."

Prince William, George, and Princess Charlotte enjoyed Taylor's three-hour concert from a private box, overlooking the thousands of fans at Wembley Stadium, per the media outlet.

Travis also gave his opinion on Prince William and said, "Dude, he [Prince William] was the coolest motherf****r. He was awesome. He was so cool."

Travis Kelce misses cue at Taylor Swift Concert

In June 2024, during a Taylor Swift concert in London, the pop icon brought Kelce on stage where he had to dance around in a tuxedo costume and interact with his partner in the middle of a show. 

However, during the performance, Kelce missed one of his cues on stage. While Kelce was dancing away, Swift leaned in for a choreographed move where he touched up her face with a makeup brush. Kelce seemed to miss the cue until a backup dancer snapped him back to reality, per Athlon Sports.

Several Internet users trolled Travis Kelce as he called himself an 'American idiot' after meeting Prince William at girlfriend Taylor Swift's show at Wembley Stadium as he missed out on a basic curtsy.

Some online comments read, "How about beginning respectful. Your vocabulary is getting to the point of disgusting", while one added, "Get a swear jar and some manners to both of you. try reading a dictionary, remember young people look up to you."

A person also stated, "Travis is so fake", whereas one mentioned, "Yall are better an me, we’re from America, we don’t have a monarchy here. It’s no way on the earth I would bow to them, let alone some children."

A user also wrote, "Running good PR for the royals."
