Travis Kelce reveals how he ended up appearing on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour
The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end enthusiastically discussed his surprise performance during a comedic segment on his podcast on Wednesday, July 3, joking that it was "very out of character" for him to "steal the spotlight."
In an explanation to his brother and fellow host, Jason, Kelce acknowledged that he was the one who "initially mentioned it" to his pop star girlfriend.
Kelce revealed, "I initially mentioned it to Tay. I was like, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 album? That era.’"
As a dedicated fan of '1989,' Kelce's desire to join his girlfriend for that segment of the show wasn't unexpected. However, Swift countered with an alternative idea, per E! News.

"She started laughing," Kelce continued. "She was like, ‘Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?’ And I was like, ‘What? I would love to do that. Are you kidding me?’ I’ve seen the show enough, might as well put me to work here."
Despite having to join the group later for 'The Tortured Poets Department' set, Kelce was pleased with how the performance turned out.
He enthusiastically noted, pointing out the flaws in his original idea, "She found the perfect part of the show for me to join in."
"There was no bike in case I ran into someone else or hit one of the dancers or anything. It was the safest option," Kelce quipped.

Travis Kelce reveals 'golden rule' for joining Taylor Swift on stage
Kelce disclosed the thought that kept running through his mind on June 23, during his cameo on the Eras Tour stage, where he escorted his partner Swift down the catwalk.
"I was up there with three professionals. You can do no wrong with Taylor on stage. [I kept telling myself], ‘Do not drop the baby. Hold onto the baby," the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed.
Kelce added, "The golden rule was ‘Do not drop Taylor, get her to the couch safe,’" per E! News.
While juggling his own responsibilities, Kelce likened his thought process to that of his former mentor, Eric Bieniemy, and elaborated on how it influenced his performance during the Eras Tour.
He mimicked, "‘That ball has our dreams, goals and aspirations,’ ‘You do not drop that ball.’"

Kelce also commended Swift's backup dancers, Jan Ravnik and Kameron Saunders, who guided him during his cameo between the singer's performances of 'I Can Do It With A Broken Heart' and 'The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.'
He said, "It was such a fun, playful part of the show. It was the perfect time for me to go up there and be a ham and have some fun not only with her, Kam, and Jan but the crowd."
"Really try and get everyone excited for the rest of the show. It was awesome. Had an absolute blast."
