Travis Kelce's Super Bowl outburst gets hilarious 'Late Show' treatment from Stephen Colbert
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce stole the spotlight during Sunday's Super Bowl, not only for his on-field performance but also for a viral moment caught on camera where he was seen passionately yelling at his coach.
In a special post-game segment on the 'Late Show,' Stephen Colbert humorously dissected the situation.
Colbert takes a swipe at the Super Bowl's lackluster first half and Swift's delayed celebration
Colbert kicked off his assessment by highlighting the lack of action in the first half, noting it took nearly an hour into the game before Taylor Swift made her first celebratory appearance for a Kansas City completion.
“The first half did not have a lot of action, it was almost an hour into the game before we got our first glimpse of Taylor Swift celebrating a long completion by Kansas City,” he said.
Commenting on Kelce's frustration with coach Andy Reid, Colbert jokingly speculated on the content of Kelce's animated remarks, “But then the Chiefs immediately fumbled and Travis Kelce was seen yelling in frustration at coach Andy Reid. I’m a pretty good lip reader, Jimmy, put that back up. I think he was saying, ‘You’re embarrassing me in front of my girlfriend! Geeze Louise!’”
Colbert's wit targets Swift's on-camera beer chug and the NFL's 'icon' label
The late-night host didn't spare Swift from his comedic commentary, playfully addressing a moment when the Grammy-winning singer was caught chugging her drink on camera.
Colbert quipped, "Even though her boy toy was angry, Tay-Tay still had some fun. At one point, she was caught chugging her beer on the jumbotron. Hey, please have fun Taylor but please make sure you have a designated driver for your private jet.”
Colbert also turned his attention to the NFL's social media manager, poking fun at a tweet that accompanied a video of Swift's beer-chugging moment with the word "Icon."
Colbert wittily responded, “Then the NFL tweeted her chug accompanied simply by the word ‘Icon.’ If that’s what makes you an icon then my aunt Rita is an iconoholic.”
The spotlight was firmly on Swift and Kelce throughout the game, culminating in a fairy-tale kiss on the field as the Chiefs celebrated their triumph.
