PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Donald Trump accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of fueling the second failed assassination attempt against him as he pointed to their "rhetoric" as the driving force behind the alleged assassin’s actions.

In an interview with Fox News Digital on Monday, September 16, Trump expressed his belief that the attacker, who attempted to shoot him at his Palm Beach golf course on Sunday, September 15, was motivated by remarks made by his political opponents.

Donald Trump places blame on Joe Biden and Kamala Harris

Speaking about the alleged assassin, Donald Trump said, "He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it."

The Republican presidential nominee went on to accuse the Biden administration of fostering an environment where political violence is becoming increasingly likely.

"Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out," said Trump.

The 78-year-old politician pointed to the frequent accusations from Biden and Harris that call him a "threat to democracy" as inflammatory and dangerous.

He also accused the Biden administration of being "the real threat" to the nation, according to Daily Mail.

"It is called the enemy from within. They are the real threat," said Trump.

Drawing parallels between the golf course incident and another failed assassination attempt against Trump in July,  the former president claimed that the rhetoric of his political rivals influenced both attackers.

"These are the things that dangerous fools, like the shooter, listen to — that is the rhetoric they listen to, and the same with the first one," he added.

Harris also addressed the situation in a statement released on Sunday, September 15.

"I am deeply disturbed by the possible assassination attempt of former President Trump today," said the Vice President.

While she has yet to speak publicly, the Democratic presidential nominee made it clear that she condemns all forms of political violence.

"As we gather the facts, I will be clear: I condemn political violence. We all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence," Harris clarified.

Donald Trump mocked over blaming Kamala Harris and Joe Biden behind attacks against him

After Donald Trump blamed Kamala Harris and Joe Biden's "rhetoric" for fueling the attacks against him, netizens mocked the former president's accusations.

One user on X wrote, "Unfortunately the only people dumb enough to believe him are maga," and another tweeted, "Self awareness is not his strong point."

"Weird. The former liar in chief is lying again. I'm just shocked. Utterly gobsmacked," a netizen commented, while someone remarked, "Has anything that ever came out of his mouth NOT hateful?"

"A cursory glance at any Trump tweet, speech or appearance IN THE LAST NINE YEARS debunks that statement from Trump. Entirely," an individual penned, and another opined, "This level of delusion is insulting."
