WASHINGTON, DC: Former president Donald Trump lashed out at Special Counsel Jack Smith for doing "evidence tampering" by mishandling the classified documents the FBI seized from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, the Washington Examiner reported.

The Republican presumptive presidential nominee's outrage stemmed from the special counsel's team's revelation during the May 3 hearing in the Trump classified documents case that the boxes seized from the former president's residence were inadvertently jumbled, according to Politico.

The FBI collected the evidence in August 2022 after raiding the Mar-a-Lago compound.

Trump faces 40 felony counts for illegally retaining classified materials at his private residence after leaving the White House. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In a Truth Social post, Donald Trump expressed his outrage at the prosecutor's recent court filing that said that "there are some boxes where the order of items within that box is not the same as in the associated scans."

The former president claimed the classified documents case was an "Election Interference Scam concocted by Crooked Joe Biden, Deranged Jack Smith."

"Deranged Jack has admitted in a filing in front of Judge Cannon to what I have been saying happened since the Illegal RAID on my home, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida - That he and his team committed blatant Evidence Tampering by mishandling the very Boxes they used as a pretext to bring this Fake Case," he wrote.

"These deeply Illegal actions by the Politicized "Persecutors" mandate that this whole Witch Hunt be DROPPED IMMEDIATELY. END THE "BOXES HOAXES." MAGA2024!" the former POTUS added.

Smith's latest admission disputes his previous assertion to District Judge Aileen Cannon, where he claimed all the evidence was "in their original, intact form as seized."

However, the special counsel's team claimed the document might have jumbled while moving it out of Mar-a-Lago and that it was unimportant to the criminal case.

The trial is expected to begin on May 20. He is already under trial over the hush money criminal case in New York.

Internet mocks Donald Trump for blasting Jack Smith

Netizens ridiculed Donald Trump for accusing Jack Smith of mishandling the seized documents, which he fraudulently retained after his tenure.

One social media user wrote, "You’re really panicking, aren’t you? You’ll have a chance to defend yourself in a court of law, but you should probably stop acting like a guilty person."

Another asked, "But storing said boxes of confidential documents in a bathroom at Mar-a-Lago is totally NOT mishandling???"

"Trump first claimed staff packed the boxes for him. He thought they were his personal items. He didn't have time to go through them, so he stored them in the crapper. Next, he says he's allowed to have the documents. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive," one individual said.

Another asked, "What makes you any different from them?" One person added, "Like my parents told me when I was young and I kept going on about nonsense things…. Huuussshhhhhh."

One individual remarked, "Blah-blah boring excuse!" while another said, "You gotta get some new material.... this old stuff is boring."

"I prefer presidents that don't cry and whine every day," read one remark.
