Trump shares social media criticism of the Kennedy legacy
The posts shared by Trump featured sharp critiques from his supporters regarding the Kennedy family’s involvement with the performing arts venue.
One supporter claimed, "The Kennedy Family have LONG neglected the Kennedy Center, btw," adding that "They don’t raise money for it. They never show up. And the only Kennedy who has been there recently is a member of Trump’s cabinet."
Another comment highlighted the difference in approach between the two families, stating, "The Trumps have always been supporters of the arts. The Kennedys are supporters of the Kennedys."
One user posted that "@POTUS revived the Kennedy Center, rescuing it from financial ruin, physical decline, and reputational damage caused by years of Democrat mismanagement and liberal control."
The commenter concluded that "Renaming it the Trump-Kennedy Center is a well-deserved honor - one of many still to come!"
Critics speak out against the board's decision
While White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on December 18 that the board "voted unanimously" for the change, some representatives challenged this account.
Microphones were muted and the board meeting and vote NOT unanimous

I’m told Trump explicitly motivated to act by JACK FOR NEW YORK
Our campaign represents everything Trump can’t stand or defeat.
Ohio Rep Joyce Beatty and Jack Schlossberg both took to social media to allege that the process was not a consensus, with Beatty claiming her microphone was repeatedly muted to prevent her from voting "no" during the conference call.
For the record. This was not unanimous. I was muted on the call and not allowed to speak or voice my opposition to this move. Also for the record, this was not on the agenda. This was not consensus. This is censorship. https://t.co/D1zGV7xiWV pic.twitter.com/npNvSIy6sV

Trump’s post comes at a time when Kennedy family mourns Tatiana Schlossberg
Trump's social media post comes during a period of time when the Kennedy family is mourning the death of Tatiana Schlossberg.
Tatiana, the middle child of Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg and granddaughter of President John F Kennedy, died on Tuesday, December 30, at the age of 35. Her death came just over a month after she publicly shared her diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia.
The news was confirmed by the JFK Library Foundation on behalf of her husband, Dr George Moran, and their children, Edwin and Josephine, with a statement that read: "Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning. She will always be in our hearts."
