Trump blasts Putin after deadly missile onslaught on Ukraine: 'He has gone absolutely crazy!'

WASHINGTON, DC: It looks like President Donald Trump’s patience with Russian President Vladimir Putin just hit a wall.
After weeks of signaling he could broker peace in Ukraine, Trump is now openly blasting the Russian president over the deadly drone and missile attack that has reportedly killed at least 12 people.
On Sunday, May 25, Trump told reporters that he is “not happy” with what the Russian president was doing and that he has no idea “what the hell happened to Putin.”
“I’ve known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all," he said.
Over 300 drones and missiles were reportedly fired into Ukraine — all while a planned prisoner swap was underway, with each side exchanging roughly 1,000 imprisoned civilians and combatants. According to Yurii Ihnat, a spokesperson for Ukraine's Air Force, it was the largest single aerial attack since the war began in February 2022.
Even as both sides were engaging in this rare act of cooperation, Putin is said to have launched deadly strikes across 30 cities and villages, and later turned his sights on Kyiv itself, the New York Post reported.
“We’re in the middle of talking, and he’s sending rockets into Kyiv and other cities. I don’t like it at all,” Trump added. “I’m very surprised. We’ll see what we’re going to do… I don’t like what Putin is doing… he’s killing people. Something happened to this guy, and I don’t like it.”
Donald Trump doubles down on his attack on Vladimir Putin over onslaught on Ukraine
If there was any doubt that Donald Trump was seriously ticked off, he made it crystal clear on Truth Social.
"I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!" the 78-year-old wrote. “He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever."
He warned that Putin’s ambitions could bring down his own country. “I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right,” Trump continued. “But if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia.”
Russia, for its part, claimed it seized three more villages during the violent weekend blitz — something Kyiv has denied.
Volodymyr Zelensky shades America over Russia's attack, Donald Trump claps back
As the smoke rose over Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky had a piercing message for Washington, saying the inaction of the US and other countries is basically giving Vladimir Putin a green light to keep going.
After giving an update on Russia's onslaught, Zelensky wrote, "Each such terrorist Russian strike is a sufficient reason for new sanctions against Russia. Russia is dragging out this war and continues to kill every day. The world may go on a weekend break, but the war continues, regardless of weekends and weekdays. This cannot be ignored."
"Silence of America, silence of others around the world only encourage Putin," Zelensky warned.
Today, rescuers have been working in more than 30 Ukrainian cities and villages following Russia’s massive strike. Wherever necessary, work continues – our emergency services are on the ground, providing assistance and supporting people. Thank you.

But Trump didn’t appreciate the tone.
In the same Truth Social where he targeted Putin, the MAGA leader wrote, "President Zelenskyy is doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop."
"This is a War that would never have started if I were President. This is Zelenskyy’s, Putin’s, and Biden’s War, not ‘Trump’s.’ I am only helping to put out the big and ugly fires, that have been started through Gross Incompetence and Hatred," Trump added.
Donald Trump said he would end the Russia-Ukraine war on Day One of his second term
Donald Trump notably said he could end the war the moment he’s back in the White House.

He repeated again and again on the campaign trail that he would bring peace to Ukraine “on Day One” of his second term, but that obviously didn't happen.
Even Secretary of State Marco Rubio weighed in earlier this month, saying the administration would consider a 500% tariff on Russian oil and gas if Putin didn’t show serious movement toward peace.
But he was quick to add that the strategy would depend on Trump’s will.
