WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump slammed The New York Times as “fake news” for allegedly misrepresenting his recent meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Trump described the meeting as “very successful” and hailed it as a “big victory for the USA” on Friday, November 7. He also expressed frustration with NYT reporters Lily Kuo and David Pierson for allegedly sharing inaccurate reports about his recent discussions with Xi.

Trump goes after 'failing' New York Times and its 'third-rate reporters'

In a recent Truth Social post, Donald Trump began with a strong statement: "The Failing New York Times and its Third Rate Reporters, Lily Kuo and David Pierson, did everything possible to make my very successful meeting with President Xi, of China, look as bad as possible when, in fact, it was a spectacular success."

He expressed disappointment over the NYT’s coverage, writing, "The Times totally misrepresented the facts, and didn’t cover the end result whereby China, very intelligently, pulled back their Rare Earths threat, bought Billions of Dollars of Soybeans and other Agricultural products, and agreed to pay substantial Tariffs."

Donald Trump went on to praise the Chinese president, writing, "President Xi, a friend of mine, did the right thing for his Country, but I did the right thing for MINE. This was a Big Victory for the U.S.A. and, indeed, the World!"

"Also, it was a wonderful outcome for China, and the fact that these two Major Powers left the meeting, as it began, with an excellent relationship, and specific plans for future talks and meetings," he added.

The Republican leader once again lashed out at the network, stating, "For The Failing New York Times to be trying to spin this Great Event negatively, when it was the exact opposite, is a disgrace to Journalism."

He ended with his signature style in all caps, writing, "No wonder they are doing so badly — THEY ARE, AFTER ALL, THE FAKE NEWS!"

This recent attack by Donald Trump on the New York Times marks the continuation of his long-running feud with the media over their coverage of his administration and policies. The remarks followed his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Busan, South Korea, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, on October 30.

Trump recounted the details of the talks while speaking at a breakfast session with senators on Wednesday. He also joked about the behavior of Xi's delegation during previous discussions in Malaysia.

“Two months ago, it looked like the whole world was in trouble over rare earths, and that's no longer a subject for people. It was all worked out very quickly. Without tariffs, I couldn't have done it,” Trump said.

“President Xi is a tough man, smart man.” Trump described the atmosphere during the discussion, noting that the Chinese officials accompanying Xi appeared tense. “I've never seen men so scared in their lives,” he remarked.
