PALM BEACH, FLORDIA: Donald Trump suggested in a surprising statement that his predecessor, Barack Obama, might vote for him in the upcoming election.

The former president's comments came after Obama made an appeal to Black male voters to support Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris during an event on Thursday, October 10.

Donald Trump believes Barack Obama will not vote for Kamala Harris

Donald Trump took to his Truth Social on Friday, October 11, to share his interpretation of Barack Obama’s message, saying, “Obama admits a total lack of enthusiasm for Kamala, especially with Black Men."

"I think Obama will be voting for me because he doesn’t like the fact that Kamala is an extremely Low IQ Person!” he added.

This latest statement is part of his broader strategy to undermine support for Harris as she leads the Democratic ticket in 2024.

Barack Obama’s appeal to Black voters

Barack Obama’s remarks, which Donald Trump referenced, were made during a visit to a Kamala Harris field office in Pittsburgh on Thursday, October 10.

He urged Black men, in particular, to turn out and vote for Harris, acknowledging that voter enthusiasm among Black communities had not reached the same levels it did when he ran for office.

“My understanding, based on reports I’m getting from campaigns and communities, is that we have not yet seen the same kinds of energy and turnout in all quarters of our neighborhoods and communities as we saw when I was running,” he said.

Obama expressed concern that this trend was “more pronounced with the brothers,” and added that some men were hesitant to support Harris due to her gender, according to Mediaite.

Challenging those voters directly, he said, “Part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president. And now, you’re thinking about sitting out or supporting somebody who has a history of denigrating you, because you think that’s a sign of strength. Putting women down? That’s not acceptable.”

Barack Obama’s endorsement of Kamala Harris

Despite Donald Trump’s interpretation, both Barack and Michelle Obama have been vocal in their support of Kamala Harris.

Following her replacement of President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket earlier this year, the Obamas released a joint statement endorsing Harris.

“There is no doubt in our mind that Kamala Harris has exactly what it takes to win this election and deliver for the American people,” read the statement, reaffirming their commitment to Harris’ candidacy.
