NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former president Donald Trump expressed his frustration with the Jewish community in the United States, during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Monday, October 7, reported Mediaite.

The interview was broadcast on the first anniversary of the Hamas attack in Israel, which has since led to greater warfare in the Middle East.

Trump created similar controversy last month when he claimed that Jewish Americans would have to shoulder the blame in part, if the GOP nominee fails to get elected in the White House in November.

Donald Trump's comments about his support among Jewish Americans

On the subject of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, Hugh Hewitt asked Donald Trump, "It’s a somber day. Do you think Israel will recover fully?”

“I think Israel will recover, and maybe recover much stronger than the past," replied Trump.

He then referred to the attacks undertaken by Israel on Syria and Lebanon, saying, "I think what they’ve done with the pagers, I mean, the pagers, did you ever hear anything like that? But with the walkie-talkies and pagers and all of the different things, I mean, I think they’ve shown a level of warfare that’s been pretty amazing, whether you’re for them or not for them.”

However, he proceeded to shift the focus on himself, claiming, "It’s been amazing. Israel would be good, I think that Israel has to do one thing. They have to get smart about Trump, because they don’t back me. I did more for Israel than anybody. I did more for the Jewish people than anybody. And it’s not reciprocal, as they say, not reciprocal."

Hewwitt attempted to offer support to the GOP nominee, and stated, "I think your numbers are rising with Jewish-Americans. They may not say it out loud, but I think they’re rising, Mr President."

“But we should have 100%, and I’ll never hit that, but we should have 100%. But it’s been an honor talking to you. You’re a real professional. You really are, Hugh,” responded Trump.

Internet calls Donald Trump an 'embarrassment'

Netizens reacting to the news on the Mediaite website slammed the former president over his comments. The following examples demonstrate their takes.

"Trump is an embarrassment to all people of good faith and morality anywhere," wrote a person.

"He's always outraged at everyone else. Anyone that he can scapegoat," shared another.

"And then cried about why Jewish Americans don't support him," jibed one user.

"He is the worst weirdo," quipped someone else.

"October 7th and Trump is only thinking about himself. Again," chided another.

"The GOP's attempts at main-streaming antisemitism are failing," observed one individual.

"Everything's a transaction for him," stated yet another.
