WASHINGTON, DC: In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump asserted that he ended five of eight wars by threatening tariffs.
He claimed that the United States is now collecting “trillions of dollars” in tariff and investment revenue from foreign countries because of this strategy.

Trump wrote that "I have stopped 5 of the eight WARS directly because of the threat of Tariffs if they don’t stop fighting or, better yet, if they start."
In his post, he emphasized that the US is “taking in TRILLIONS of Dollars in Tariffs and Investment Dollars from foreign lands because of Tariffs.”
According to him, this aggressive use of economic pressure has not only helped prevent conflicts but has also strengthened the economy.
He also took a dig at his predecessor, Joe Biden, for inflation, writing, "There is almost no Inflation, and the worst in USA History under Sleepy Joe Biden."
Trump further claimed that "The Stock Market just hit an ALL-TIME HIGH for the 48th time in 9 months."
The POTUS called out those who have allegedly long exploited America, writing, "to Leonard Leo, Koch, and all of the Countries and Slimeballs that have ripped off the United States of America for years through the use of their own Tariffs, we don’t have a Court System that’s going to let you destroy our Country any longer."
In the same post, he portrayed the current US as “the richest, strongest, and most respected” it has ever been.
Trump also credited this newfound stature to the November 5, 2024, election.
Trump's use of tariffs as a tool for international peace
Donald Trump’s latest statement builds on his repeated narrative about using tariffs as a diplomatic tool to influence international conflicts.
He has made similar claims regarding the India and Pakistan skirmish at the recently held US-Saudi Investment Forum on Wednesday, November 19, asserting that his tariff threats played a decisive role in brokering peace.
Trump: "India and Pakistan were going to go at it with nuclear weapons. I told them, you can go at it, but I'm putting a 350 percent tariff on each country, no more trade with the United States… I'm not going to have you shooting nuclear weapons at each other, killing millions,… pic.twitter.com/Fk9s0rukZP

Trump said that he threatened India and Pakistan with 350% tariffs if the conflict persisted, and added that both Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally called him and urged him not to proceed with it.
Trump brokered a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, but tensions again flared up due to border skirmishes.
In response, Trump's administration again pressured Thailand to reaffirm the ceasefire with Cambodia, warning that trade negotiations could be paused as it aimed to preserve the truce agreement brokered by the POTUS.
