WASHINGTON, DC: Kevin Hassett, the director of the National Economic Council, said President Donald Trump is shaping what he called a “new world order” as the president prepares to address global leaders.

Hassett made the remarks during an interview on Fox Business after the host asked what people should expect from Trump’s upcoming speech. Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks at this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Charles Payne asked Kevin Hassett on Thursday, January 15, what viewers should expect from Donald Trump’s Davos speech this year. Hassett said the speech would include “some look at the New World Order that President Trump is creating.”

Hassett added that many countries that complained about tariffs six months ago ultimately experienced strong economic years.

“You know, a lot of countries that were whining about tariffs six months ago and saying that President Trump was going to harm their economies had pretty good years,” he said.

He added that those gains came because people now see the United States as strong again. “And I think it’s in part because people recognize that President Trump has made it so that we are the shining city on the hill again. We are the engine of global economic growth because the US is really that strong again.”

Trump allies long warned of ‘New World Order’

For years, several allies of Trump have warned about what they describe as a New World Order.

In 2024, Alex Jones said, “The real war is here with the globalists and [George] Soros and [Barack] Obama and the New World Order and BlackRock. They’ve declared war on us and we accept the challenge. We’re taking the country back."

Former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn has also issued similar warnings. In 2020, he wrote, “We do not want a world governed by tyrants whom no one has elected and who want to have power in order to destroy us.”

He added, “We understand what their plan is: to eliminate dissent, subdue any criticism, and outlaw those who do not submit unconditionally to the dictatorship of the ‘New World Order.’ And if they do not succeed through the hammering persuasion of the mainstream media, they do not hesitate to resort to deception, betrayal, perjury, and censorship.”

Last week, The New York Times asked Trump whether anything limits his power on the world stage. He replied, “Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.” He also said, “I don’t need international law.”
