BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY: Former president Donald Trump's golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, is hosting a January 6 awards gala for the rioters who stormed the Capitol building in 2021 to prevent the certification of President Joe Biden's 2020 election victory.

The GOP presidential nominee is listed as an "invited speaker" along with his former attorney, Rudy Giuliani, for the event scheduled on September 5, as reported by Newsweek.

Stand in the Gap, a foundation organized to support "January 6th defendants and their families during their time in incarceration," is organizing the event at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. Over 1265 defendants were charged in the Capitol riot, and around 452 of them were arrested for assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers or employees, as per the Department of Justice.

What is the purpose of Jan 6 gala hosted by Donald Trump's New Jersey golf resort?

Stand in the Gap described the upcoming event as an "unforgettable evening" that is conducted to "honor and celebrate the twenty defendants who contributed to the powerful Justice For All song" and "all J6 defendants who have shown incredible courage and sacrifice."

'Justice For All' song by the January 6 choir featured imprisoned individuals for their involvement in the insurrection, singing the US national anthem along with a recital of the Pledge of Allegiance by Trump.

The awards gala would also act as a fundraiser to provide "much-needed assistance to the January 6 defendants."

The attendees would have the chance to win a "signed custom platinum plaque commemorating the Justice for All song," which, according to the organizers, is "a rare opportunity to own a piece of history while making a significant impact on the lives of those who have shown incredible bravery and sacrifice."

Though the MAGA spearhead's name is on the list as an "invited guest speaker," his attendance remains unclear.

Media outlet The Tennessee Holler posted an invite for the event on X (formerly Twitter), writing, "This is real. He has no remorse about that dark day."

Two federal indictments against Trump over his alleged involvement in attempting to overturn the 2020 election result, one nationwide and the other in Georgia, include criminal charges for likely instigating the Capitol insurrection.

Donald Trump slammed as his New Jersey golf resort set to host Jan 6 gala

Donald Trump's New Jersey golf resort hosting the January 6 gala ignited intense outrage online. Netizens voiced their fury at Trump and labeled the event "horrid" and "insane."

"Trump and MAGA proving, once again, how despicable and vile they are >>> Donald Trump Hosting Jan. 6 Awards Gala Sparks Fury: 'Absolutely Horrid' - Newsweek," a user tweeted.

"Surely thought this was fake; but it is very very real. Trumps America, where domestic insurrectionists are rewarded. Absolutely insane!" another wrote.

"This is completely absurd. It was probably the only location that would give them the space at a certain cost," added one user.

"Just when you think Trump can't get any worse, he goes out and organizes a "Jan 6 Awards Gala" to support the cop beaters who smashed their way through the US Capitol. There is no policy on Earth that justifies supporting this evil, wretched man," read a response.

"Trump hosting a Jan.6 Awards Gala is absolutely horrid.Celebrating the people who endangered the life of his own VP & glorifying violence is a dangerous assault on our democracy & a disgraceful rewriting of history. We must all stand together against him," a user opined.

"How can anyone vote for this man? This man is hosting a gala for people who tried to kill his VP and destroy our country. I will never understand," someone else remarked.

"Trump's hosting of the 'Gala awards' for the J6 defendants is disgusting. He's calling them 'hostages' and fund raising for them. This is one more reason, among thousands of others, that this stupid and evil little man belongs nowhere near the White House," an individual chimed in.

"You couldn’t make this level of stupidity up no matter how you might try — Trump to host awards gala honoring Jan. 6 defendants," read one remark.
