WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump turned the East Room into a party as the Florida Gators basked in their NCAA men’s basketball championship glory, but of course, the POTUS couldn’t help slipping in a few Trumpian one-liners while he was at it.

“They’re all good-looking guys,” he said, as he looked over the squad that powered Florida to its third-ever national title.

“And they’re definitely tall,” Trump added, before referring to his towering son Barron. “You know, I have a son who's 6-foot-9,” he said.

Barron Trump, 18, has been getting a lot of attention these days, especially since his dad returned to the Oval Office after winning the 2024 election. But even at 6'9", Barron apparently feels small around some of these Gators giants, TMZ reported.

“He always says, ‘Dad, I'm not that tall compared to some of these guys,’” Trump said. “And now, I understand what he's talking about," he added to laughter.

Donald Trump dishes out praises left and right

Speaking of Florida Gators forward Thomas Haugh, Trump gave props to his thick locks.

“He has got good hair too. He has no hair loss problems, I can tell you!” he quipped.

The president also praised the team’s gritty road to the championship. The Gators pulled off four comeback wins during March Madness, including a nail-biter in the title game against Houston.

“It was looking bad,” Trump said, recalling how Houston held a 12-point lead before Florida surged back to win it all 65–63 in San Antonio. “Did you think you were going to win?” he asked.

The Gators only led for 64 seconds total in that final—the last 46, most crucially. Trump gushed about Alijah Martin’s clutch free throws that sealed the deal, asking him if he was feeling the pressure at the line.

“Lesser teams would have crumbled,” Trump remarked.

Championship rings and Tim Tebow fanfare

Florida’s third basketball crown also adds to their bragging rights as the only school to hold three NCAA titles in both football and hoops. Donald Trump made sure to call that out, noting that the 2006 and 2007 champs had visited George W Bush back in the day.

To commemorate the moment, the team gifted Trump with a signed basketball and a personalized No 47 jersey. He gave a shout-out to head coach Todd Golden, calling the 39-year-old “great” and “young,” before joking, “Boy, would I like to be his agent.”

Among the other attendees were Attorney General Pam Bondi and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whom Trump called “no bigger Florida fan.”

Also in the crowd were Florida Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody, and one of the most famous names in American football—Tim Tebow.

Trump said the Heisman winner was “as a college player, maybe the best ever.” And despite his NFL run with the New York Jets, the admiration still runs deep.

This wasn’t Trump’s first championship celebration this year. He’s been on a bit of a spree since retaking office in January, welcoming everyone from NCAA winners to Super Bowl champs.

In April, he hosted the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Rose Garden. That's when Vice President JD Vance, a proud Ohio State alum, got a little too excited and accidentally dropped the team’s trophy.
