Trump recreates iconic JFK Oval Office photo with grandson Theo in adorable post shared by Ivanka

WASHINGTON, DC: Ivanka Trump shared a touching glimpse of President Donald Trump and her son Theo's adorable White House moments on May 1 on X, with one of the photos going viral over its historical reference.
The one image that captured widespread attention shows eight-year-old Theo peeking out from the front panel of the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, just as John F Kennedy Jr once did in a photo that became an enduring symbol of the American presidency’s human side.

Behind the desk, smiling warmly in his signature Make America Great Again cap, sits 78-year-old Donald Trump, Theo’s grandfather and the president of the United States.
The scene is a clear and deliberate nod to Alan Stanley Tretick’s iconic 1963 photograph of former President John F Kennedy and his young son, which was taken during a family shoot as Kennedy privately mourned the loss of his prematurely born child.

The choice to recreate that moment was not accidental. The desk at the center of both photos, the famed Resolute Desk, is more than just presidential furniture.
Crafted from the oak timbers of the British ship HMS Resolute, it was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B Hayes in 1880.

It carries centuries of diplomacy and history within its polished frame.
Though many associate it with modern presidents, the desk didn’t reach the Oval Office until President Kennedy personally requested its move there.
In 1945, President Harry Truman had a rear kneehole panel added, engraved with the Presidential Coat-of-Arms, the very same panel young Theo poked his head through, echoing a timeless moment of childhood innocence amid the backdrop of immense power.
Harry S. Truman became the first president to use the updated version of the desk in 1945 when the Presidential Coat-of-Arms was carved into a panel fitted at the rear kneehole. It wasn’t until John F. Kennedy’s presidency that the desk was first used in the Oval Office. pic.twitter.com/IBAt6sEJLt

Not every president has used the desk, Presidents Johnson, Nixon, and Ford all opted for different pieces, but for those who did, the desk became a canvas of legacy, quietly witnessing world-altering decisions and tender family moments alike.
Ivanka’s post didn’t stop at that single homage.
Donald Trump’s grandson Theo honors him with original piano composition
She also shared a heartfelt video of Theo, dressed in a crisp off-white suit, performing his very first original piano composition for his grandfather at the White House.
“Theo debuting his first original composition for grandpa last night at The White House,” she wrote in the caption.
The piano Theo performed on is itself a national treasure: a 1938 Steinway grand presented to President Franklin D Roosevelt by Theodore Steinway.
